Are The Eyes Windows To The Soul

Are The Eyes Windows To The Soul ?

If the eyes are windows to our souls,
Wonder what the souls must think of us.
Then should we not protect our souls?
Yes but most of us instead watch TV.
We watch horror movies and cops shows,
On our TV’s.

Why we even have horror in the news this day and time,
For it is fill with war and killing to be sure?
I don’t think I am going to stop watching my TV.
But the thought of my eyes being the windows,
To my soul makes me wonder just what it thinks of me.

Make me wonder just what my soul must look like.
Is it all black an ugly from all the bad stuff?
Is it Blue from the pain of all it has seen?
Is it red being mad it me for making it see such things?

I don’t think that I am a bad person,
I may be a little more careful of who I am with.
I will say that I do not trust people so quickly.
So I wonder just what my soul thinks of me?

What do you think about the eyes,
Being the windows to your soul?

that wicked, i like the idea of swopping the meaning of a well known phrase to make you think about it in a different way. The idea that Tv corrupts our souls really makes you think. anyway like the poem

5 out of 5 stars for originality of thought!

Gosh, Rose...I absolutely love your pieces! Full of imagery, wisdom, hope, and all good qualities while pointing out things we should know for ourselves. Your first two lines said a mouthful! I wonder what they see as well of us. Thanks for commenting on Munir's 'Ghost of Love' piece, too. He's been really interested in what people say about his work...even if he is busy presently, he does check. rosewishes for endymion

    excellent

You're another poet here in All-poetry that I keep thinking wouldn't it be fun to have a book of all these little questioning, thoughtful poems.
the TV thing really goes deep especially it you've ever sat and watched a show with preschoolers, eyes wide open like mesmerized. Are they developing their minds or their souls? could be a scary thought!
Wayne's idea about the heart as a doorway is comforting because I believe that attitude is 99% of perception; so no matter what we see, we still have a door to hide behind!

Eyes, I think might be the windows to the mind,
For a soul is generally a hard thing to define,
Some say the whole, some say the essence, some say in between,
But if you look just behind the eyes, it’s the mind you is seenin’.

I beleive that our eyes are window to our souls.. But a few people can see that, others don't see it or just don't care.. I have learned to see people from the inside out.. Look for the soul first and you will know the true person.

This poem brings up some interesting questions for poeple to think about..
    Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
