the song has ended
as newly weds you sang to me
each night as we lay close
your melody of love was oh so sweet
each word of love wrapped lovingly
within your melody
I still feel the beat of your heart, my love
but time has flown and so has love
the song now silent, dies
your love no longer sings its song for me
though I no longer hear your tune
I’ll hold you in my heart
for memories don’t die so easily

This poem is very beautiful and sad. I enjoyed the imagery of the sentient song weaving through the poem, especially
"but time has flown and so has love
the song now silent, dies"
It's simply wonderful. -
Are you familiar with 'The Song Is Over', by The Who? The title (unsurprisingly) reminded me of that. Decent write, by the way.

This is incredibly sad, but still.. beautiful.
I will admit, I didn't like the beginning, as it seemed to be just... plain... but I gave it a chance and read through it, and I realized I was wrong.
It's heartbreaking, because this is the way that people feel every single day, because it happens that often. I pray to never have to feel this feeling beyond my young years now, as in... when I get married... i never want to feel this. Although the memories still linger in this poem, I feel that the memories create as much pain as they do pleasure.
Well written. Thank you for sharing -
It's weird. I was just talking bout memories yesterday with my friend. It captures the idea of love dying deeply and also captures the fact that not every part of it dies.
Well done

Change is the ONLY constant in this universe and through it we either grow and strengthen or it destroys us. Love can be likened to a big lake with water flowing in and water flowing out. As long as the circulation is there, love is fresh and renewed, but if either the inlet or outlet becomes disrupted, then the lake stagnates and dies. So just keep the flow going with sweet memories...
Hugs...Eddy
