Here lies the body
Of Mairi bheag,
Buried alive,
But what the heck.
When she woke up,
Och Jings – what a shock!
So when you pass by
Listen out for the knock!
Author notes
I thought I would have a go at this and lower my win average!

No worries, Jordi.
-
Sorry Mairi,
a little lapse in sense there, and by the "so you don't forget" part I mean that since you write mostly sonnets, a "non sonnet" poem might get you out of the rhythm you seem to radiate when writing sonnets, (grin) pay no heed, they're just my crazy rantings, anyway...
Sorry about that.

Why thank you, my dear bearded niece
-
I thought I was your Niece, er nephew, er, oh dear, now I'm just confused. . . LOL Abso brill, as always, auntie dear. .
-
Och aye, Poe. Me an' Lazarus shall brithers be for a' that!
-
Opened the coffin and there she stood,
mad as hell and spit'n wood
alittle worse for wear, battered and bruised..
but alive enough to be slightly amused..
lucky for her a knocking was heard
barely in time to forestall the worms
still she lives in Scotland glen
one life down with many more to spend..
only you, Mairi, would come back from the
dead, smiling. lapoe.

There are some good ones, along with skulls, crossed bones and so on, at Greyfriars churchyard in Edinburgh
-
cute, Mairi... I bet there are some good inscriptions to be found over yonder. I see some interesting ones here in germany when I can bear to work them out sometimes.
-
Thank you - yeah, it was "kick back and relax" time.
-
Looks like you did something out of your element. You go, Gurl! It is fun to play sometimes. Best of luck to you in the contest,
Belle

{taps on the inside of the lid} ... er...

Just glad this is not real. Huggles nice one.
-
er... that is the title, Jordi. And so I don't forget what? (Glad you like the poem)
-
great poem, although it would've been nice if you included the title in some way,
I hope you win,
-Jordi
P.S. you should write another epitaph in sonnet form
so you don't forget
-
Had it been a 45
and four in the head
he'd be no Moore live
and no Les dead!
-
Excellent
I love the illustration! oh, yes, and the poem as well!
Here lies Les Moore,
Killed by four shots from a .44,
No Les....no Moore... -
Och, Jo, it's a wee piece o' nane-sense!
Thank you, and the same to you!
-
you "lowered" your win average by this you think? not unless you're considering it the six-feet all of us have lowered ourselves by this contest, Mairi! Cute epitaph message and best wishes to you in the contest!
Jo -
Thank you, Melodies, but I won't kid myself over this one. I am just here to make up the numbers
-
FUNNY AND FINE
HAHAHAHAHA! You deserve a big bouquet of flowers for your sweet grave
and also a hug
and a little bird
to sit in the tree above and watch over your resting place! And here is a cup of hot chocolate
to keep you from freezing in the cold ground!
Thank you for coming to my cemetery contest!
