Here lies the body
    Of Mairi bheag,
Buried alive,
     But what the heck.
When she woke up,
Och Jings – what a shock!
So when you pass by
     Listen out for the knock!

Author notes

I thought I would have a go at this and lower my win average!

Sorry Mairi, a little lapse in sense there, and by the "so you don't forget" part I mean that since you write mostly sonnets, a "non sonnet" poem might get you out of the rhythm you seem to radiate when writing sonnets, (grin) pay no heed, they're just my crazy rantings, anyway...

    Sorry about that.

Opened the coffin and there she stood,
mad as hell and spit'n wood
alittle worse for wear, battered and bruised..
but alive enough to be slightly amused..
lucky for her a knocking was heard
barely in time to forestall the worms
still she lives in Scotland glen
one life down with many more to spend..

only you, Mairi, would come back from the
    dead, smiling. lapoe.

cute, Mairi... I bet there are some good inscriptions to be found over yonder. I see some interesting ones here in germany when I can bear to work them out sometimes.

great poem, although it would've been nice if you included the title in some way,
    I hope you win,

    -Jordi

P.S. you should write another epitaph in sonnet form so you don't forget

    Had it been a 45
    and four in the head
    he'd be no Moore live
    and no Les dead!

I love the illustration! oh, yes, and the poem as well!
    Here lies Les Moore,
Killed by four shots from a .44,
    No Les....no Moore...

HAHAHAHAHA! You deserve a big bouquet of flowers for your sweet grave and also a hug and a little bird to sit in the tree above and watch over your resting place! And here is a cup of hot chocolate to keep you from freezing in the cold ground! Thank you for coming to my cemetery contest!
