Take my eyes

Take my eyes
For I don't need to see, what has blinded me
In my heart is where the light shines brightest
A brilliant sheen
Layers upon layers built over the years
Not a glossy finish
So easily stripped bare
Some people are afraid of the dark
But I welcome it with open arms
So that I can see everything
Feel everything
Touching what is known
Seeing what has become

Imperfections catch our eyes
Cracks and rivulets of joy and tears
Held together by burnished fingers
Taking time to replenish, what has been lost
Shaping what is to come
The patina of our hopes and dreams

Take my eyes
For in this darkness
I see only you and I
Standing together, bound by life's works
Labours of love, we keep in our hearts
Glowing within the light
Protected by night or day
Whether it's light or dark
You can take my eyes
For I see into your heart
And in this lightness we will stay

This is tolerable mush, not flowery and scented with cheap perfume sentiment. It is genuine feeling, original and done only in the style that my favorite medical professional can do. It made me smile and wince at the thoughts it gave me, the memories it dredged up. Ja, ja, dragging the waters again I am. lol

I love the idea that you are putting accross here and often wonder myself if i would see clearer in the dark, without all the distractions that come with visual light.
wonderfully expressed and very loving. xxx

sweet blissful.. mush.. how i've missed it.. such a big old sweet heart you have.. i felt when i read this.. that i needed to hold someone right away.. and squeaze.. and squeaze.. but sadly no one else is home.. so i used my Winnie the Pooh pillow as a stand in.. since its filled with fluff and stuff.. it didn't mind one bit.. that's what its made for.. to be mushed with good stuff.. chaka boom baka..

A fine poem full of hope. When darkness holds no mystery, when daylight exposes no fear at all, you know you're doing something right, eh? Lovely and lyrical work.

    lil sigh

    within the blindness
is the depth of all knowing
and the sounds of two hearts beating
    the song of sight.

this piece is gorgeous Gilly, and I must say you do "Mushy Stuff" very well

thank you for sharing such tenderness.

Reminds me of the song "I Only Have Eyes For You" (don't need 'em for anything else). Here's the URL to a medley of love songs including IOHEFY. Thought you might enjoy it! (I sure do!)

This is such a beautiful poem! I love this part:

Some people are afraid of the dark
But I welcome it with open arms
So that I can see everything

Instead of fearing it, you embraced it! So clever, I like this poem its about true love. Great job, great write!

    Shines so bright!

Not mush! This is beautiful! I love it! And, I think it's something we all should consider, Gil! The wisdom behind this write shines so bright, and therein lives the light, for we judge what we see, and too often fail miserably in seeing the real person behind our crooked perceptions, because our eyes can deceive us, or rather, our sight can. This one's going in my "favs!" Another great gift you have shared! And, a great teacher you are, too! Love ya, Girl! --Kellygirl
