Never taking another breath
The beauty of the crimson glow
Is hidden now by death.
So my life was without you.
I was colorless and dull.
Inside had felt the touch of death
While life had become a lull.
Yet when you take me in your arms
And squeeze me so tenderly,
As a young one clutches their mother
Color starts streaming in as a coulee.
So, "Hold me in you palm
Plant me in a garden of grey
And color me beautiful"
As a gorgeous, blooming bouquet.

Hi my friend sorry I haven't been in touch for ages and I must apologise because I have been so busy studying. This poem is very haunting it is powerful and reaches into your soul. I think it is portraying the mood you felt at the time.
You talk of how you felt without this person in your life how that affects you and makes you feel. I can feel the lonliness of this and the despair how everything around you just became depressed.
Then when you get the love you need it becomes better like all that pain desolves and it becomes better. The only thing I found complicated because I have never heard of this word or saying before "Color starts streaming in as a coulee." Could you enlighten me as to what coulee means please? It will help me to understand your poem more though I already have a good sense of your poem.
I really loved the way you described the feelings and put an object to those. The plant image and the garden. It would be easy to overlook these but, it shows the depth of your feelings and the need for love that you have. How you want to be planted in the garden and be cared for and yet you don't feel this and it is such a need in you to be watered and loved and cared for.
This is a very sad deep poem. Bravo.

Thank you so much! I know I also haven't kept up with you. I feel aweful about it. coulee means a stream. Like a river or a brook even. How is things going for you? I am ending this year of school in one week. I am so excited to be out for a while! Meanwhile though, I will be working at a daycare with young kids. I am looking forward to it though. I'll talk to you later.

Muy bien! -
awh, you did my quote justice, that's for sure. That is a line that I thought of and just could never write anything to go along with it, but I think you did a great job on this. Thanks for not butchering it, haha. Your quote was interesting as well.

I think the quote you were given was a great one and could have been taken many ways. I love the interpretation you have of it and how you put it into a love theme sort of poem. I like the quote you have given as well. Thanks for entering, Chelsea

Oh, this is really sweet...You lead into the heart of the quote very well and wrap it up gently with the last stanza. I think it's so true that love brings color to us and to our lives. Nicely done.
As for your quote, I think that is something few people are truly willing to do, never realizing that even in sacrifice there is much to be gained. A very insightful quote.
I wish you the best of luck in the contest.
