Once upon a holler-hoot,
Were born two baby boys
And each used funny sounds and words
As voices for their toys.
The younger twin would clap his hands
The other screamed awhile
And made a kind of puppet show
To make the children smile.
Teddy Bear would snicker twice,
And Lamby-Pie would yap-
So, only time the funnies stopped
Was when they’d take a nap!

Sooo Cute!!
Aww that was cute. I have no baby brothers ,sisters, or nephews and neices. This kind of reminds of the kids I used to babysit. They were twins and so adorable. They like to play with there toy trucks and motorcycles and like to go vroom vroom with them. Kids are so cute ^^! -
Heheheh..thank you. It's been awhile since these have been read

Delightful
Simply delightful, brought a smile to my face. So natural and easy to imagine and yet an almost magical scene, That sense of awe that you get around happy babies is radiating from the poem, a superb write.

Yes..you're right there. I've been surrounded by babies all my life and much of what comes from there are gestures, gestures, gestures..lol. Thank you for reading this one, too.
-
Yes, that explains boys well - lots of sounds and few words.
And of course, children love to be silly. I could see my nephews in this.

Aaaaawhhhhhh!!! reEAally????I have had that special observation with our granddaughter and one of my children! Thank you for enhancing this little ditty with your special comment!
-
I'm so glad! There's a kid in me that remembers the child in others! Thank you so much!

I love story time, but most of all, I loooove nap time.
I thought this was really cute. It is something that I would consider sharing with my 3 year old brother, who seems to think he's anything from a pirate to a bear... to a truck or a train.. but one of the cutest things I think he's done lately... is he walked over to the book shelf and pulled off a childrens book, he sat down, opened it up and pretended like he was reading, "Once upon of time there was a goose" then he looked up, announced "the end" closed the book and put it back.. I guess.. you may have had to be there.. but I just thought it was precious.
Anyhow.. Back to your piece... I think that kids could have a ball with this, it's playful, cute and ends the way all play time/story times should.. with that glorious nap!!
Very Sweet! -
Great write
I loved your poem. It is so beautifully written with clean white lines that come from your heart straight into the child's heart that reads this.
I would like to see it expended into a child's book created from your special love.
God is blessing you!

This was great fun Cookie. Good luck on the contest. I wanted to enter this contest, but I just can't get in the right frame of mind to do it. It would have ended up as a depressing downer kiddie poem...ugh!
-
clever!
still in complete awe at how you can rhyme so well! I suck at rhyming, to be blunt. this was really cute. good luck!
