~~ The Emerald Pool~~

Missing image
Water so clear and sparkling clean
It's the color of an emerald green
A slope where the water comes in
Granite so smooth it's a sin~

Around the banks stand pine trees tall
Water so cold it will numb your toes
Sitting here just oh so peaceful
Will release all your sorrow and woes

As I sit and watch the other side
I see a deer at the water's edge
Up in the sky
a hawk silently glides~

Overhead the willow branches sway
And way up high sits a beautiful blue jay
Feel the breeze on my face so cool
What a wondrous place
My emerald pool~

And EMERALD GREEN is certainly my favorite color of colors. In heaven, if there ain't no green, I ain't going. In other words, it's full of green. I bet even the angels have green eyes. Another lovely nature wtite. Big thanks. ET

    Outstanding!!!!!

Susan...Fantastic imagery and words that soar!!! I like the thought of an emerald green pool. It reminds me of the colors of my ancestral homeland, Ireland. This poem is just as enchanting as the folklore of leprechauns. Thanks for commenting on "Night Of The Dream Chaser." I truly appreciate your comments because you are such an amazing poet in your own right. ***Ivy Rose

I think that the rhyme scheme is a little rough on this, but that is only my opinion and it is an excellent write. The imagery is amazing and the subject is beautiful. A great write.

I'm going to throw in a critique.
    In the second stanza

'around the bank stand pine tree's tall'

that was a little out of place. And punctuation, as Hawkie suggested, would be helpful.

You did a marvelous job of transporting me to that 'Emerald Pool'. It was a lovely visit. I needed a moment away.

We should each of us have some place like this to escape to/within when the world tries to take away our connectedness with simpler things...

Very nicely done. It's like a painting on canvas capturing a private moment for us. When I read it, I feel like I'm spying through the brush on you and your moment. Magic, truly magic. - SG

What a beautiful picture it created. I could picture myself there, walking about which I haven't done in a while. A place of freedom and peace. Dreams are reachable, the stars are in our pockets. Good job. I hope that's where I go someday.

i liked everything except the rhyme scheme. it seems too erradic for what i think you want to say here. the words are beautiful, and well put together, but i think the poem would have more impact if there were no rhymes, or if the rhymes were more coordinated.

OTHER than that. i liked this, it has a very calming and soothing effect, and the imagery was fantasticular

    Nicely crafted.

    Absolutely beautiful!

Ahhh! Susan! How refreshing and peaceful this write is! Wow! You beautiful imagery put me right there, and a measure of peace entered my being as I read, because I was suddenly transported to this peaceful pool, surrounded by serenity and absolute calm. Can I use your pool in my meditations? Lol! Really! Thank the Lord for my imagination because I can transport myself anywhere when I become still and quiet, and I love traveling to new places. This is a place I want to visit, for restoration, relaxation, and that peace that surpasses understanding. Absolutely beautiful, Susan! You did well! Love to you! Will IM you with my addy for the book purchase before the day's over. Lots of work to do today, and through the rest of this week and weekend. Work is good. Thank you again, for this write!--Kelly

Lovely poem, so sweet. You really took me to the pool with this poem. Only suggestion I have it to play around a bit with the structure of it, and punctuation. As it is now, the reader just doesnt get time to stop and breathe. Maybe split it up in two stanzas, and inser some punctuation and commeas? Something like this:

Water so clear and sparkling clean.
    It's the color
    of an emerald green.
A slope where the water comes in.
    Granite,
    so smooth it's a sin

    Around the banks
    stand pine trees tall.
    Water so cold
    it will numb your toes.
    Sitting here
    just oh so peaceful
will release all your sorrow and woes.

As I sit, watching the other side,
I see a deer at the water's edge.
    Up in the sky
    a hawk silently glides.
    Overhead
    the willow branches sway.
    Way up high
    sits a beautiful blue jay.
Feel the breeze on my face so cool
    What a wondrous place
    My emerald pool~

I can't make it centered here, but copy it and paste it in Word or something and make it centered, and you will see the pace of the poem slows. You can make more emphasis on some words like this. I also corrected some grammar and spelling mistakes in my version, I think.

    Lovely poem, Susan.

    /Jen
