Footsteps on the sand

No other footsteps on the sand,
No firm helping hand.
Just the freezing cold of the sea,
The beach is empty all except for me.

No shinning moon,
No shooting star,
No faith in my gaping heart,
No beating hope
No thumping joy.

Alone to make it through,
In my heart I know its true.
The merciful faithful God
Has deserted thee.
The shallow footsteps
Barely made a dint
But the absence of another pair,
Of the God that was never really there.

Author notes

Thankyou for reading. This poem, is based on the story (bible story?) of where someone asks where is God when time is hard, as there is only one pair of footprints on the sand, and the reply is that that was when he carried you. mine is sort of turned on its head. thanks.

    Beauty

This is a very beautiful poem and the theme of the poem is more than excellent. The flow is brilliant but the last line...ya! more than beautiful. I am glad that you are here, in this world of ordinary people, to write such wonderful thoughts. God bless you for being such a beautiful thinker.
