ha ha I need to find someone with a bird because I want to sit and watch it...wild birds are annoying and poop on my car! that's ok, I just read Reenie's poem about Max and thought it was adorable!
-
I like this and love the reference to their chatter as sidling lmao. I do have to ask what this has to do with vampires? (hehe you ahve it in a list of such hehe) I too like parots, although most of the ones I have encountered were, well, not so polite hehe. I guess that speaks to the sompany I keep that they would prefer the vulgarity to a child's song lol. Again, no precisely to the rules af a haiku, but still a cute write!! Best of luck in this and all of your endeavors.

Awww that's so cute... The picture, and the haiku. Love the tete-a-tete, head to head, basically? I only just done French last year but forgeting it already! But yeah I always love talking to parrots, they seem to like me

You've just been hoodwinked

This is a simply adorable haiku! You have desribed the parrot so well! I wish I had a talking one too, I only have a little love bird, and he does not talk. But he is cheerful and chirps alot for me.

Susan, you have a delightful image here. I like your unusual word use in line 2, and the whole is completely parrotish.
Many blessings!

I just wanted to add a little note, too: My daughter had a Quaker parrot who flew to her freedom last February. Lucy was so smart and she did talk. She would cock her head and laugh, and call for my grandson. "Garrett!!! come here!" she'd say. And she loved my daughter, protected her when she thought she was being threatened. But the funniest thing she ever said was to my son one day when he was trying to talk to her.
"Son-of-a___" , she said very softly
.
He said, "Did you hear what she called me?"
And she repeated it!
I couldn't help laughing because he was rarely around that bird and she had not forgotten him. She was greeting him in his own language.

I saw your comment on Blushfulmoon's haiku entry into my contest
Just like you I wish that Max could be roaming free
. He was a "used and abandoned" bird when I got him a few years ago. I try to make it as happy for him as I can. He spends most days out off his cage , on top of it or climbing his jungle gym, or helping me type
and nibbling on my ear.He is an affectionate clown. Also due to the rainforests being abused....slowly shelter and nourishments for his and many other species are becoming closer to extinction
Max goes to the local schools with me to educate the kids about just that
. I could never give him up-----but yes , he should be free and should have always been allowed to be so. And on that picture he actually was looking at the magazine. It seems as if he recognises birds in pictures and he makes sounds to them. In back of his huge cage I have a mural with a lot of birds etc and he is forever looking at them

nice, witty haiku and a cute Max on top, reading a magazine...does he see his reflection there or in a mirror? I wonder.
Still, I wish he was free, roaming the Amazones....
good luck,

This is a cute and fun moment of a haiku, Susan and it's to see that parrot all tufted and preened-up and admiringly mimicking himself in the mirror--or each admiring the other as may be the case of Max and friends!
I love birds and we had a cockatiel for a number of years. The only word he could speak that came out clearly was his own name, "Birdie-Birdie-Birdie." He did a great telephone ring whenever I was out of the room and a fantastic bed-springs squeaking sound, but I never taught him that! I did teach him to whistle Jingle Bells, the Mexican Hat Dance, Dixie and part of the Star-Spangled Banner--Quite a repertoire, but NEVER those squeaking bedsprings!!! LOL
He was a brat-bird for sure--He'd spit seed husks at the cats and me and I think we feared him more than he us. He could bite!!! His cage sat at the front window and always seemed a little depressed when he was moved to the side window for the Christmas tree each year. I guess he couldn't be as nosey with the neighbors!
Thanks for the memory this haiku and your Author's Comments brought me and best wishes in the contest, Susan!

This is a really cute haiku, Susan, and well written, too. There's no picture necessary to get this message across, my friend. You've painted the image perfectly with your words.
Good luck in the contest

This KU does describe a parrot & the reader can tell that from these short, well written lines.

Very cute. It has the expressed feminine flair of you as well.
Here on Point Loma where I live, a penninsula that jets out into the San Diego ocean, live hundreds of Amazon parots. It all began when a couple of these parots were set free and over the years have multiplied. When you hear one parot squak, multiply that by a hundred. They're quite noisy. Louder yet are the Macaws; much larger bird. So far the two Macaws we have flying around haven't reproduced. In spite of the noise they are colorful and an amaizing site to see.
Anyway, Good luck to you in the contest. -
Birds are great, parrots especially.
Nice haiku
thanks for pointing me to it

Susan
Max is flattered by the use of his picture
And you are so right in your note....they are wonderful pets, they are loving clowns and all we have to do is love them back and laugh at their antics....so there is a lot of loving and laughing going on in this house
But I do need to ask you to remove the picture (as I had asked for no art) I do not object to you using the picture anyplace else though.......and you can add it after the contest, because your words do capture the pic perfectly.......or maybe you could just link to it now for others to see if they choose. As for me, I would like to be able to just read the words this time. I hope you understand. Thx for entering......
much love always,

Excellent
Haikus can be so difficult to write and make them memorable and truly capture a picture with a few words. I think you did fantastic. It really expresses exactly the image. Great job. Good luck in the contest. -
Magnificent!!
Ooooooooooooooooooh what a gem
I remember watching Pet Stars and Wow~
The tricks the Parrots could do
I was amazed
A couple of parakeets I owned and that was about it
They just shot seeds everywhere
Magnificent Haiku Sis
You are so good at showing us through Your words~
You can pen any Masterpiece
Loved this One!!!
Best wishes to You in the contest~!
