Dark Matter

The scientists are searching for dark matter
but they don't know what they're looking for,
they've measured all the matter in the universe
and found it's not enough, there should be more.

The matter can account for only 6%
not enough, to let the universe exist,
is it something we have yet to understand
or is it simply something that we've missed.

It has a mass, but not made up of atoms
invisible, but with a force so strong,
could be what keeps the universe surviving
or may be our law of physics is all wrong.

A scientists life is studying the cosmos
to find most of it gone must be quite odd,
maybe they should give up studying science
and leave the running of the universe to God.

Your poem was well written and clearly explains your beliefs on the matter (or at least I think these are your beliefs), but I'm inclined to disagree. I think when we look at the question of dark matter and think about the way things react and even contemplate the fact that the laws of physics may not always apply, most of us should not step away from it, but we should embrace it more. Finding out we were wrong, or being horribly confused by some phenomenally cryptic event should be the source of our passion. The more we learn, the more we realize how ignorant we are...yet we continue to learn, pushed on by some basic spirit of human creativity.

Just because I disagree, however, has no impact on the quality of your writing. You did an excellent job and I thank you for sharing.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to view and enter my contest.
Contests here on Allpoetry are a lot of fun and I hope that everyone enjoys them.
I will soon be posting a contest for BRONZE only poems. I do hope you will consider entering.

If you are dreaming, you should be writing
For dreams are words we should share
    Sharing makes us all stronger
So thank you for sharing your dreams and words with me

    Judging:

Well, this is certainly different. It looks more like a statement of scientists leaving of lives and the world to God. I do believe that we humans do tend to interfere a little too much in this world and somethings are better left untouched. Nicely penned.

Title: Nice appropriate title that suits the poem.

Content: The content is good for what you wrote about. Maybe adding a little background would be helpful.

Imagery: There wasn't too much imagery as it appeared more as a statement.

Grammar: Did not detect any mispelled words however, they are very long sentences.

    Flow: Flow was good.

    Thanks again for entering.

:-D I love reading/thinking about dark matter because it spotlights both how little we know and how fascinating the universe is. Thank you so much for this entry in the contest-- it's exactly the type of thing I was looking for.

What I enjoyed about this is how realistic and scientific it is... but at the same time it resembles all that makes a poem. Very interesting indeed. Thank you for sharing this and good luck.

    Interesting

This write is really scientific I must say.

It also suits the title of my contest well enough.
The message behind is really important to understand.

I must thank you for taking part in my first contest. All the best...
