T'was the eve of Christmas
I'm not in my house
The sunset is beautiful
With it's white puffy clouds
Relaxed in my lounge chair
With a book and a drink
The kid's tucked away
Fell asleep in a wink
O'er in the pool
There arose such a splash
As I looked up to see
Santa's great stash
And to my surprise
There was Santa himself
Swimming in my pool
This jolly old elf
Back-stroke, breast-stroke,
Dog paddle too
A loud, booming belch
As he slammed back a few
Out of the pool
He shook himself dry
Threw on his suit
It was time to fly
Back in his sleigh
To the reins gave a pull
Shot me a wink
I knew it was cool
With a flick of his wrist
He called out the name
Of each of his reindeer
It's always the same
On Dasher, On Dancer,
On Prancer, On Vixen,
On Comet, On Cupid,
On Donner, and Blitzen
And gently they rolled
Up into the air
To bring all the toys
To kids everywhere
Then I heard him sing
As he flew out of sight
'Thanks for the dip,
Merry Christmas, Goodnight!'

This was too cute! I wondered what kind of stories were told in Florida where snow is in the form of sand and chimney's probably are few and far between. You never cease to amaze me with the diversity of your talent. Take care!

Hey, I'm originally from New Jersey. I have been in Florida 17 years, and I still don't think I am used to walking outside Christmas day and being able to dive into the pool. It is definitely a culture difference. But I've been to Mexico right around Christmas time as well, and now there is a major difference in culture. They kick back with a Corona, just like the commercial...on the beach, white as white could be sand and yep, palm trees strung with lights.

lol, Santa in Florida. As someoen who has grown up in New England, palm trees and swimming pools seem like such a wild thing to have at Christmas. This brought me back to when I went to Florida the first week of December when I was liek 13, it was so weird to see palm trees strung with christmas lights. lol, but taht is just a cultural diffrence. This was a fun poem, I enjoied reading it.
