I wish I could be so loved
That I was transformed in his eyes
My hidden beauty would unfold like the rustle of a wing
And the hush of a whisper
Grace and perfection would blow about my face
Like strands of silver, flowing youth
And I’d rise above this place
The earth
Out of reach, even his
Amid the stars and clouds and heaven
And all the sky would be my kingdom
And so rising
I would fall with a streak of light to the ground
And lie deep and buried and alone and cold
With my dreams and feathers and tarnished perfection
And over me, a fine veil
Of promised promises
And dreams yet to be dreamed
Author notes
Selfish, perhaps, and rather vain...but haven't we all wished this at some point?
