This is breast cancer awareness month

Missing image
This is breast cancer awareness month
So ladies don't be shy...examine your breast's
Feel under the flesh and look out for lump's
What are you waiting for?...stick out those chest's!

Make it routine just like brushing your teeth
Prodding and poking at what's underneath
If you feel worried please go see your Doc
Take someone with you...don't just go for a walk

Ask your husband to help you or even a friend
Don't fret or be troubled...it isn't the end
Think of all those...who love you and care
Take your head from the sand...please be aware

Author notes

October is breast cancer awareness month...and I wanted to say to women everywhere...please do not be embarrassed ...just check your breasts and if you find a lump or anything you never felt before then please! please! please!...go see a doctor or nurse...do not ignore it....breasts are beautiful and wonderful...please keep it that way...God bless!

What a wonderful offering you have here, the encouragement to make the effort of self-exam. It is light enough to be approachable and yet has a tone that one would take this seriously as well; a very good balance, I think, and helpful as well. You are correct, it must become routine, checking regularly is so very important. I know I’ve said this before but I do thank you so much for entering the contest , it means a great deal to me.
    Blessings and best wishes,
    ~r.

Celticpoet, thank you so much for entering your poem, “This is breast cancer awareness month” into my contest, it is an honor to have this pre-write posted here. Your voice and unique perspective is a welcome addition. This is a boilerplate note that I place on all poems entered to let you know I have reviewed your poem and have made my initial observations. Please feel free to add to or modify your poem as I will make my final assessments after the close of contest. I will judge the contest approximately ten days after that and will make any additional comments at that time. Thank you, again, I truly do appreciate your effort and wish you best of luck in the contest.

    Blessings and best wishes,

    ~r.

    FANTASTIC

Dan, I love this poem and as you said, DO NOT STICK YOUR HEAD IN THE SAND LADIES!!!!! Please do a self breast exam each and every month, It could mean the differance between seeing your child graduate high school and seeing your grandchild for the first time. When you think about what you could lose what is a few minutes out of your month compared to the alternitive.
Great work Dan, thanks for caring so much
    Love Kathy

This is one nasty beast and early detection as with any form of cancer is a must. As Dan says you just cannot bury your head in the sand cos those little cells can spread like rabbits breeding they multiple rapidly and once they get into the lymph system big troubles can be afoot...even from as few as 4 cells. A little attention can save a life. So you go have your boob slammed in the freezer door then get your friend to sandwich you boob between two bricks drive over the brick a few times having this done a few times yep you're ready now. Think Pink. You know what ladies here we have Dan caring enough about the subject of breast cancer he has taken the time to write a poem just to remind us. Thank you Dan I appreciate you caring thoughts for all women across the world and your brilliant write. Now we just got to get the guys to go and have their check ups too mmmmmmm Seriously this beast can effect both sexes.....one question that is asked of women who have had breast cancer is if any other siblings male or female have been effected. There appears to be a link. Leave your dignity at the door pick it up on the way out. Dan i just looked up and saw your response..flippant disrespectful no NEVER i am touched that you have taken time to promote a subjet which all women have to be serious about like the pap smear test not the best invite in town but one you just cannot avoid to miss. Thank you dan PINK RIBBON WEEK......
