...Says Tea... Nah

She says tea... Nah,
he likes coffee best.
There's something about the aroma
and colour of a good coffee
that arouses the senses
And leaves the drinker satisfied.

He's never satisfied.
She offers him tea... "Nah"
he says. Says it offends his senses.
Says he likes coffee best.
Says REAL men drink coffee,
black and strong with a good aroma.

She hates that aroma.
How can she ever be satisfied
with just a cup of coffee?
It's always the same... nah...
She likes tea best.
The choice of flavours appeals to her senses.

When will she come to her senses?
Can't she appreciate that aroma?
'Ain't it the best?!
She's never satisfied.
What does she know? ... nah..
Ya can't beat a good cup of coffee!

What is it with the coffee?
It'll dull his senses!
Ha! What senses?... nah...
He can't even smell that aroma
How can he be satisfied?
He can barely taste the sugar in it at best!

Why does she always think she knows best?
Who made her the expert on coffee?
How can tea possibly keep a man satisfied?
'Ain't nothin' in it to affect the senses
No taste, no punch... no aroma
........................nah..

She thought she'd best settle his senses.
Served him coffee, two sugars... ugh.. that aroma!
She sipped her tea. He added more sugar... nah... he's never satisfied.

Like Wagner’s music - A lot better than it sounds¡!

The repetitive forms are very… annoying¡! All those lovely words and you have to hash them over and over – this though has a sinister feel to the whole piece – I could almost hear the wife confessing to the detective – ‘I just couldn’t stand the smell of his bloody coffee any more¡! And he’d left the tyre iron in the sink…” – or vice versa. There seems a lot more than beverages on the menu… I think I’ll take a mineral water – if that’s okay.

Some men just never appriciate the exquisit taste of a fine aroma filled cup of coffee. Maybe we should sit down drink a tea and think what we are missing....................Nah..

    Coffee v Tea

Some say coffee, some say tea
    Never can the two agree
Some say sugar, some say toffee
Have a cake, make mine banoffee
    Water, waiter if you please!
All this caffeine makes me sneeze!
    Virtual beans my nostrils tickle
Putting me in such a pickle
    Some sestinas leave me cold
But I'm giving this one gold!

Belated Happy New Year to you and yours. Best Wishes.

Nah, you have at least one more who has you on his favorites list...but...I was not thinking 'sestina' or wordplay nor semantics but the essential difference between coffee and tea drinkers, and the history of both plus, and perhaps especially the differences between male and female palates, which must surely play a role in this write.

I can't stand tea, even the sophisticate, 'earl grey' no sugar of Captain Picard and others...drinking tea is like drinking perfumed hot water; girl food. (chuckles)

A stiff cuppa mud has sustained me for over half a century, there must be sumpin to it.

But the history of beverages, hot and cold, is an interesting one should one be interested.

A sestina! I love these. Very nice little story. He ends up satisfied, but only if he can get his hands on the sugar. I myself am not a tea drinker. Not hot tea, anyway. But it's sure a well loved drink. A fine poem.
