The Hour

it is 15:00
on this Friday in autumn
and the songs of turtle dove know it
the imitations of the parrot know it
the robust gurgles of rock-pigeon know it
the green grass grazed by the horses
knows it
and the grazing horses know it

it is 15:00
on this Friday in autumn
and Ruiterbosch knows it
this is how 15:00 feels
on this Friday in autumn
at the foot of the Robinson Pass

does the turtle dove know
that it is a turtle dove?
does the parrot know
that it is a parrot
does the rock-pigeon know
that it is a rock-pigeon?
does the green grass know
that it is green grass grazed by horses

on this Friday in autumn
at this Hour 15:00
on this 25th Day in April
of this Year of our Lord 2003
...
do these horses know
they are Palimino's?

(for one short moment
on this hour
I feel
omniscient)

This is beautiful, absolutely, once ..or twice, I have felt that sense of time, which I can only describe as 'feeling a moment' a sudden hitch in which for one moment there is a connection with 'all '.. thank you so much .. this is so well written..and brought foward a very peaceful memory of mine.

I love the sense of getting back to nature,
of getting to our basic roots. doing this
centers us, and opens up our spirit so we can be
    awe stricken by life.

    very inspiring. a good poem!

My daughter & I had a similar conversation, Myra...she said she wished she could be a bird, that they must love flying so...the thought coming to us that if we were birds, how would we know we were not human? How then, could we love our flight, knowing nothing else?

    love your sense here

Nope - my tone was that of awe - but of course, the reader "completes" the poem within own frame of reference

    Thank you for reading.

Very spiritual. Although slightly arrogant in a tone that you assume as god. I am sorry, but Iam a muslim and I had to comment on it. But still a very nice write,

    My South African muse.
