Dear Mr. Soldier

Dear Mr. Soldier,
I don't know what it's like,
I sit every day with what I need,
Water and clean clothes,
A clean safe bed.
What you are doing I can't imagine,
I'm only a junior,
Who's thankful for you.
It's because of you and the others you are with,
Because of you I am free,
Free to pray, free to write,
Free to walk down my street.
So I don't know what it's like for you,
Someday I might,
But not until then.
So all I have to say is thank you,
Thank you so much.
Each day I pray,
Pray for you and your brothers and sisters,
The ones you fight side by side with.
Thanks to all of you.
God Bless to you.
This letter I write,
Is from a friend,
A fellow American,
Who's proud to say thank you.

A very nice write. I pray you never find out what War is like. Too many have died already. I love this country and I love the troops (I was a sailor) So I spent some time places better left forgotten. I thank you for caring enough to write this letter(poem). Good luck in the contest.

    Golden Words.

A poignant, sincere and compassionate write that paints a picture of what the soldiers would like to see painted about them for to have the folks back home showing their gratitude must just barely make the pressures of serving one's country in a warzone, slightly possible.Congratulations on the gold
