Staring into the mirror
I try to figure out
What it that
Everyone else sees.
The beauty they speak of
Is vaguely a resemblance
Of that which is in
My deep, poetic heart.
Do they speak of the
Inner beauty or the cryptic
Outer beauty that both
Radiate from my soul?
A whimsical beauty
Glowing forth from an
Obscure outer beauty
That everyone notices.
Do they even see the
Poetic soul that's inside?
Or do they only see
That cryptic, hidden outer beauty?
What do they see,
In the cryptic, whimsical me?

This poem hits home! Thank you so much for entering my contest! I love the way you use the metaphor in beauty. You know, I have wondered the same thing for a very long time. Again thank you for your entry. Becks
