Cursing into my journal,
making its pages damp
and staining my words.
Singing at the top of my voice
when I'm in solitude
and otherwise pushing the tongue
into lull
however hard it yearns
to cry, yell and shout out.
Shutting these eyes
whenever they're speaking
too much about me.
Being scrutinized
by common fools with wagging tongues
whose lives revolve around my
shame and fall
in hope to see me naked-
bare
and shattered to the core.
Chaining love
lest it escapes through lips
until it is strangled.
Stowing away rage
and frustration in tears
and pushing back tears
back into my eyes
lest my rage
hurt another's heart.
Hiding the soul
lest its essence is inhaled
and grasped by the body.
Keeping back a poem
in fear of it being intercepted
and understood.
And lips move
away from that silent tongue
they've started hating,
breaking into a smile.
That fake mask of joy I wear.
And that smile
is what life is all about.
