God, give me a heart for the nations

Inside a shelter, in the early morning
she rises to start the day
Covered with fabric from head to toe
She bows and begins to pray
She puts her life in danger
for trusting in my Lord
a whispered Hallelujah
is all she can afford

He walks each night to a bus stop
it's the only way to be safe
that the LRA will not find him
But he's hungry and tired and poor
He knows my God will protect him
And so he will dance and sing
Shouting, 'Hallelujah'
To his Protector and King

He spends every day in his cubicle
Working against the grind
Fighting the war of empathy
raging in his mind
So easy not to care about
anything beyond this place
But he cries "Hallelujah" in spite of it all
and he seeks his Father's face

God's children are still his children
No matter the tone of their skin
And he chose each and every one
And washed away their sin.
He loves to hear their praises
in every style and tongue
And he has love for every nation
for the old and for the young

From saints of old to newborn babes
One day we will worship together
And Luther and Calvin and you and me
Will sing to our Savior forever.
We will not see the tones of our skin
Or feel hatred or empathy for one another
All we will see is our Majestic God
and feel his love for our brother.

agh, MB, this made me so happy! I'd been thinking about that recently--that one of the easiest ways for me to dwell on the greatness of God is to think in anticipation how amazing and incredible it will be to have EVERYONE praising his name. And the poetry was beautiful.

    awesome.
