L'Amour ~ Love


Je veux savoir ce qu’est l’amour
ainsi je demande à la terre
La terre ne me répond pas
mais elle soutient mon pas
sur le chemin de la connaissance

Je demande donc au fleuve
Le fleuve, non plus, ne propose nulle réponse
mais il lave mon âme
des souffrances innombrables

Alors, je demande au feu
Pas de réponse
mais il réchauffe mon cœur
refroidi par l’indifférence

Je demande ensuite au vent
Il ne me donne pas sa réponse
mais caresse mes cheveux
comme signe de consolation

Je m’adresse finalement à l’espace
Aucun bruit, aucune réponse
Mais dans sa vastitude
il accueille mes prières
les plus profondes

Mon esprit apaisé
je cesse de chercher

Je m’assois
en silence

Et dans la plénitude
de ma divine solitude
toute question s'évanouit

but supports my feet
on the path of knowledge

So I decide to ask the river
River offers no answer to me neither
but it washes away all pain
from my suffering soul

I ask the fire now
No reply
but it warms my heart
frozen through indifference

Then I ask the wind
It doesn’t give me his answer
but caresses my hair
as a sign of consolation

Finally, I turn to the space
No sound, no answer
But in its vastness
it receives
my most profound prayers

My spirit is appeased
the search ceases

I sit down
in silence

And within the wholeness
of my divine solitude
all questions vanish

    Congratulations on winning the Gold. This is a beautifully written and presented piece. There are so many lines that I like and I am a sucker for love poems. The French version just flows with elegance and majesty. Thank you for sharing this.

    Dear maa, This is simply lovely. I have lost much of my French, but retained just enough of it to be able to appreciate the French version as well as the English version. Either way, this is a beautiful poem, but I do think it has an slight edge of elegance written in French. Tres beau, mon ami! (I hope I didn't mess that up!) Blessings, Spirit Walker
