"Roy the Physio..."

I love a boy (his name is Roy),
He's the prince of physios,
I go weekly to his clinic for
Jumping, skipping, practising throws,
Bending, stretching, touching my toes...

He can whittle down your waistline or
Sooth your rheumatic woes,
With his clever exercises of
Jumping, skipping, practising throws,
Bending, stretching, touching your toes...

He leads every movement
In his leotard so trim,
But the exercise that I'd adore
You can't do in the gym!

So I eat cream doughnuts daily to
Keep my tissues adipose,
To stay signed on at his clinic for
Jumping, skipping, practising throws,
Bending stretching, touching my toes...

Oh, there's exercise to trim the thighs,
And upward press to ease that stress,
And swing and wing and lunge and plunge,
And heave and strain... no pain... no.....Gain (Ooof!)
And with every class, my passion still grows!

Author notes

As you will probably recognize, this song goes to the tune of "Buttons and Bows". It was written for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary therapists who wanted some songs for their physiotherapy classes - and specified that they must fit tunes that their patients (and pianist!) were likely to know.

The above version is the one for for women to sing...

The men's version is called "Pearl the Physio"... It begins

"I love a girl, her name is Pearl,
She's the queen of physios..."

and then substitutes feminine pronouncs for masculine - as required...

Rx: 1 cup cocoa, feet up near fire! Call in A

I liked this Vera. Your voice is almost audible in this, not that it isn't in others I've read. I think you were really having fun here.

    Hope you are OK!

Have to go to the Veteran's cemetery tomorrow. They told us the headstones have been delivered, and my sister and I are going to take a look at them.

Nice going on this piece, very lighthearted.

    Take care,
    Thinking of you often,
    John

I can see Bob Hope singing this from the back of a covered wagon with his concertina. Paleface is one of my favourite films; though not politically correct nowadays I suspect. Here's to Painless Potter and Jane Russell. And here's to you too. Best of luck with the Aiberdeen physios.
