Abigail's Song

Did you see her bathing on the roof?
Did she catch your eye?
Was her siren song too much for you,
That you just couldn't deny?

I watched you silent by the door
And you just stared there wanting more..
I guess I thought waiting was the key.

(piano)

Looking back now I guess you'd assume
that you'd lost your common sense.
Were you choking on her sweet perfume
Or was that on your promises?

Your conscience never did begin
And now I wish that I'd stepped in
I'm living proof that fools will fall in love

(piano)

(bridge)
These days slowly faded to a darker shade of light
And now I've come to just expect the day as second night

(piano)

Maybe some day youmight try
to come back around
You might pull a sly,
"Baby I was lost, but now I'm found."

I won't buy it 'cause I know that
You shouldn't have stooped that low
I was just so hopeful that you'd stop
I was just so hopeful that you'd stop

(piano)

Author notes

Um. Abigail was a wife of King David(from the Bible). David cheated on his wife with a woman named Bathsheba, whom he saw one evening as she was bathing on her roof. I guess I just wanted to write something from Abigail's point of view. It's not Biblically accurate or anything. Purely fictional, with characters who really did live. Historical fiction.
