The sunrise at dawn, awoke me from dreams
Whispering, softly in my ear
Listen to the music and know what it means
the message was clear
If you close your eyes you can dance
across clouds and you'll find
a rainbow of colors so clear in your mind
You can even touch stars and capture their light
Live out your dreams, see them shining so bright.
High in the air, way up off the ground
with inspiration to share and to never come down
I can see that each day, is all up to me
The more love I give, the more love I'll see
I can look at each day absent of fear
not even a memory of pain or tear
I thank the sunrise that awoke me to dreams
and songs I can hear.
I listen to the music and know what it means
when it whispers in my ear

I wrote this poem because of an actual dream, about, how each & everyday is what we make it and we can accomplish whatever we want to, if we only believe we can dance across the clouds of darkness that lead us to the rainbows of happiness. This is very beautiful and very inspiring, I love the opening of this poem...

such beautiful imagery, so peaceful and dreamy..
the rhyming is a bit all over the place, but the rhythm keeps the poem flowing nicely..and the picture is so beautiful... well done!!

Hi Tim! and thanks for your nice comments on my poem, i realize that the rhyme on this does skip to a different theme, that's just the way this one turned out, I don't usually do that, although my poems do sometimes have a mind of their own and I just have to go with it, to bring the message across. I'm glad you liked it and think that it works okay. By the way what song were you listening to when you read this? just curious...

I don't normally listen to music when I read poetry, but I just happen to be today and the song I'm listening to right now fits perfectly... really made the poem come alive and just wow... Really amazing pleasure to read this. 
One thing for a critical review... at the beginning and end you have a rhyming of ABCB. Then your third and fourth stanza are AABB which is really different. I think it works fine, but just keep in mind that future the future try to pick one rhyme scheme and stick to it. Thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest

Your message in this piece is absolutely beautiful. You brought this together so well with imagery, a dream-like vision. I loved it right from that first stanza, and repeating the near-whole message of that stanza again at the end was really effective. Excellent job!

Twinstar, your poetry and your biography mirrors my thinking and I loved this one. Just sent you a note on something you commented on that I wrote. It is so nice to meet people who care so much about life and others as well. Your comment "The more love I give, the more love I'll see" is so true. Please read my poem "THERE ARE BLOSSOMS IN MY GARDEN" as it could have been written by you. I do try to read the poetry of others and I especially like to give encouragement to the young ones, some of who write so well with so much maturity. And then I wonder as some of the others who write so darkly. I just wonder what kind of lives they must lead. Not being a professional critic I only reply to poems that I like myself but I loved this one. Keep up the good work.

This reminds me of that line from a Patty Duke made-for-TV movie. "God didn't put us here to be happy. God put us here. It's up to us to be happy."
It is another choice we can make...whether to be grumpy or happy (or any of the remaining 5 dwarves).

Happiness is an inside job isn't it? And you are happy as you decide to be. Is it a goal, a commitment, a decision, a choice? Whatever well-being is a long-standing habit to respond to problems and obstacles not as an helpless victim rather in asserting yourself to true and healthy choices and worthy of trust..
