Perhaps the world won’t understand
the words I write for her-
Oh, time stopped by and sang to sleep
my grinning bit of fur,
and unlike curs with thoughtless gaze
who walk through life in doggy ways
My pup was regal all her days-
She was the Queen of Dogs.
Her eyes were gold, and lined in black
Her ears were finest silk;
And in the center of her face,
A stripe, as white as milk.
Her legs were quick to dance, and long,
Her voice was splendid, raised in song
Her opinions, often far too strong,
(As befits the Queen of Dogs).
Bottle-fed and raised by hand,
she often was offended
when forced to leave the tableside
till dinnertime was ended-
(she never guessed she was a pet,
and thought we rudely hadn’t set
her place- but had hope for us yet),
The gracious Queen of Dogs.
Never a collar for my dear,
it was a “necklace” that she wore-
Her lovely leather necklace…
She doesn’t wear it anymore,
For time has sung her off to sleep,
and her empty collar feels much too deep
to hold, when hearts can’t help but weep
for Puppet, Queen of Dogs.
Author notes
She was a person in fur. We miss her.

Hi, this is enchanting, I being a great dog and animal lover found this enchanting and I am sure she has her castle in that happy doggy land where she is now, it breaks our hearts when we lose our best friend, I know I class my dogs as the best and most honest friends I have, they must be special to put up with me, super poem my friend, you have my applause. hugs Di

This is well-versed and touching, adding bits of humor and sweet moments even when addressing a sad topic like this one. It makes me miss my dog like whoa... good job.

Excellent
At last! Real talent; not some rambling jumble of words without emotion, expression, or meaning. -
