Why do people hate ?

I see prejudice everywhere
and it breaks my heart
Love holds the world together
and hate tears it apart

+
People can patch over differences
without solutions being found
A band aid for a bullet wound ?
to devastation, we are bound
~
Why do people chose to hate ?
I really don't understand
Why react with hate and hurt
when love is right on hand ?
+
I see prejudice everywhere
and it breaks my heart
Love holds the world together
and hate tears it apart

~
Maybe hate is born out of fear
Do we fear what we do not know ?
If so, why don't we learn ?
That's how respect can grow
+
I'm not tying to preach or teach
I'm just trying to understand
Why react with hate and hurt
when love is right on hand ?
~
I see prejudice everywhere
and it breaks my heart
Love holds the world together
and hate tears it apart

Author notes

It's not fair. It's just not fair.
I will never understand why people chose to hate.
I can't understand how people can hurt another human being so much just because of the colour of their skin,or the way they talk or walk or grin. I wish a lot of things and sometimes I think the wishes are just silly words and thoughts in my head but sometimes I just know they are from my heart and when I see other people hurting it actually feels like my heart is breaking a little bit. But my heart hurts for the people who are doing the hurt as much as those who are hurting because they will never acieve their dreams if hate drives them. It is love that holds the world together. I don't want my little brother and my niece and nephew growing up in a world where hate drives people... It's just not fair for anyone. I'm never going to give up trying to help make the world a better place even. I don't think I could live without knowing I'm at leats trying to help. There are so many aazing people who make this world a better place. They are my heroes....

    Excellent / Outstanding

This (so far) is my favorite poem of yours, because it conveys such basic, but essential wisdom.

I ask the same questions Ellie! I'd not like it for the next generation to grow up in a world of hate, it's not fair. Then again, life isn't fair. But what you or I do can make the world of differance. I have had silly arguements with friends in the past, but they stop now!
Just remember, the world is not all hate, as long as we are together in unity, bound in love for our world. Don't give up hope, darling one.

Hi Ellie. A beautiful write and message. Lovely flow, rhyme and tone. Good alliteration. Deep expression of emotion. Thoughtful. Your question is one that we all ask ourselves. You express yourself so well for a child of your years. Well crafted. Shelley

    Dear sweet little Ellie...
Out of the mouths of babes, I almost can't believe the wisdom you have at such a precious young age. You already do change the world, you have such great insight and vision, it is truly admirable and your parents must be so proud of you

    Take care,

my dearest and most precious ellie,
you are a very noble soul, since you are able to feel compassion for those who are hurt as well as for those who cause the suffering. this is an accomplishment which only very few achieve, unconditional love.
I am so honored to have such a special little sister in you, and I cannot say it often enough how much your presence makes my heart smile and bring back hope and courage to my spirit, whenever I am sad about the suffering in the world, like you are ...
your are right : anger and hatred spring from fear. and recently I have read a proverb by a native american chief, who said : "what we don't know, we fear, and what we fear, we destroy."
and you are even righter, when you say that love is the only remedy ! yes, it is the only truth, since fear is just a cloud that passes on the vast sky of love ...
love always wins at the end, because this is who we are !
    keep confidence, my precious one.
    I am with you.
    much love,

    maa

This is awesome...it's so true, and the way you say every word just makes it so easy to tell how you care about the word and I know you're gonna help it and probably are, with things like this poem. I'm not really sure of what to say except for wow, because "well-written" doesn't seem to do this poem much justice!

A wonderful poem about hate and prejudice-you ask the questions that need to be said. Why? There should only be kind thoughts and love, and you have expressed this well in your poem.

People hate because they are afraid or insulted. Predudice is inspired by deep seated and often subconsious fear of people diffrent than them. Hate is inspired by fear of the unknown, and by personal issues against people. This world has become a sad place, but there has always been predudice and hatred. Those are just surface problems... sadly. This was a good poem, it is sad how much hatred is on the world. Very sad. Most sad is taht that only coveres the surface I am afraid. Well, anyways, this was yet another great write from you. If you keep this up you will be a rich and fameous poet before you know it.

Jesus commanded us to "Love one another". But to many people choose to listen to the 'other guy' instead. All of the evil in the world comes from not loving each other, every war, every crime, every hurt, all from that one problem.
    I loved your poem
    God bless you

Excellent. You wrote with your heart. The world is driven by hate, the thing is it isn't minor hate. This hate pushes people to kill. But there are good people in this world as well ~ though I'm quite a cynical person. I've come to understand like you are now that the world is not run the right way. There are heros, and maybe your talent isn't known throughout the world yet but you are a hero too!!! Writing this proves there are still good people. Things can never be black or white but let's hope theyre more on the peace side than the prejudice/hate side.
    Excellent write. Totally approved.
    Enchanting. Truly.

Powerful Write!!!!! I don't understand really why people hate each other. I personally think it has to do what society thinks how people should look and act. I love the fact that your so passionate about this subject that people just forget about and act like it's not there. It really shows in your piece the passion for the subject and the emotion. Keep Writting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
