Get Out

He walks in the door, you tremble in fear
The moment he growls you run but in vane.
His fists were on you before you knew.

He looks down on you with a cunning leer,
On your carpet, your blood leaves a new stain
In a steam of his hate, you turn black and blue.

If only he hadn’t had that second beer.
You can try to ignore the oncoming pain,
But you can’t deny that it’s true.

He walks away, slamming the door you hear,
You’re released for a moment from his cold reign
Your skin’s taking on a dark purple hue.

Cover up with makeup in the mirror
tell yourself, it's never gonna happen again
you cry alone and then he swears he loves you.

He looks at you sweetly, and calls you his dear,
You glanced at him coldly “Go to hell, Shane”
Or those are the words you wish you could spew.

You’re stuck in a circle, there’s nothing for you here,
Can’t you see, oh so simple and plain,
Get out, before your life’s through.
