Prismatic Me

Please God don’t let me

stay in my juvenile ways where my whole

existence depends on the color of my crayon.

I want to flow like an ink pen in a writer’s palm,

dancing from word to word.

Don't let me look just like any other

pretty poster in this world.

I want to stand out like a blue colored rose

in a black and white world.

Don't let me blend in with the background

I want to live a life that reminds me of a kaleidoscope,

changing colors and patterns with every turn.

Don't let me exist as if I am candle stick.

I want to ignite my own fire, choose my own scent,

choose my complexion, and blaze forever!

Don't let me get trapped within the lines of a coloring book.

I want to paint my own picture that'll have no restrictions.

Don't let me signify the average rainfall.

I want to bounce back up after a fall,

I don't want to pitter patter,

I want to become effervescent when I hit the ground.

Don't let me hate being far from perfect, let me love it!

I want to allow myself to be a misfit puzzle piece.

Don't let me bury myself like a broken heart.

I want to sing my heart's neglected song, hitting every note perfectly.

Don't let me stay the selfish shellfish.

I want to have a heart that's overloving

Please God don't let me exist as anything but me.

Great Write it was powerful and reminds me of my life. You used some great parallelism in this piece as well as imagery. Great Job!
