I’ve sailed this world in ships of steel
Steered some with a wooden wheel
Around the gulf and along the shore
And from port to port I did explore
I’ve seen hurricanes and typhoons
The crimson tide and silver moons
But all these things that I have seen
Can not compare to my love serene
I’ve sailed under bridges and through the straits
Entered towns with walls and cities with gates
Traveled the world seen nature abound
With rainstorms, blizzards and scenes that astound.
I’ve seen such a lot in my travels afloat
Volcanoes, earthquakes and even a moat
Yet all that I’ve seen and all that I’ve done
I wanted just you for you are the one
I’ve crossed this globe on salted tide
Sailed oceans, seas and rivers wide
Passed through rainbows, survived the storm
Caught sunlight glistening off the water’s freeform
Been to and seen the Northern Lights
Watched desert scenes and many strange sights
With all these things I can’t forget
That first incredible time we met
I’ve sailed near islands and great barren rocks
Coral reefs, bays and canals with huge locks
Seen mighty mountains in the water ahead
Gone through the Triangle that never gives up its dead
Saw flying fish on small silver wings
Watched dolphins and whales in their natural dwellings
Oh how I wish that once more I could flee
To my wonderful and beautiful mistress, the sea
Steered some with a wooden wheel
Around the gulf and along the shore
And from port to port I did explore
I’ve seen hurricanes and typhoons
The crimson tide and silver moons
But all these things that I have seen
Can not compare to my love serene
I’ve sailed under bridges and through the straits
Entered towns with walls and cities with gates
Traveled the world seen nature abound
With rainstorms, blizzards and scenes that astound.
I’ve seen such a lot in my travels afloat

Yet all that I’ve seen and all that I’ve done
I wanted just you for you are the one
I’ve crossed this globe on salted tide
Sailed oceans, seas and rivers wide
Passed through rainbows, survived the storm

Love Your Sea
You had me for awhile, I thought you were speaking of your love for the sea and the love of another person. I just kept asking myself, why doesn't this person take in all the sights with you, but duh, I got the hint. This is a great write about the sea and it aboundant that you love it so. My only wish is that you live right on the edge of it so that you may enjoy it everyday. Thank you for entering and good luck. Hugs~ Cuddles

OUTSTANDING!!!
Dear Poet: In my humble opinion, this is an excellent poem and worthy of publication along with the greatest writers of all time. I picked up a little book yesterday entitled, "Poems of the Sea" and I believe your piece, "My Mistress" is just as good as any of the poems in this book. It includes writers such as Emily Dickinson, Percy Bysshe Shelley, John Keats, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Rudyard Kipling, William Shakespeare, and many other fine authors. My favorite lines in your poem are the last two lines of each stanza. Thank you for sharing your incredible talent with all of us!!!

I can see how this could very well be the thoughts of the gentleman who has paused here by the side of the road. Thank you for giving this contest a new perspective here with this well wrought piece of yearning for the sea.

This was really good.
This had no errors, which I thank you for.
Your rhyming flows really nicely, nothing sounds forced. I really liked:
"Gone through the Triangle that never gives up its dead
Saw flying fish on small silver wings."
Good Luck! -
