kari
once upon a time there was a little girl
whose life seemed to crumble before her
though she prayed and she cried
nothing seemed to help
until that fateful day when an angel stopped by
and carried little kari to safety
though scared and frightened
she began to realize
that she needed the strength, somehow, to fight
she’s come a long way
since those many years ago
and still has a ways to go
but she’s beginning to see
that life can be good
and her shining example of love
she shares with all she meets
I’ve come to know this child of God
in a most remarkable way
she loves, she cares
she dreams and hopes
just like the rest of us
but for her it’s an uphill struggle
and she’s making it
she keeps climbing
and she’s chosen me for her granna
to fill in for her beloved own real granna
she’s chosen me to help see her through
as she helps others see the way
she’s become so special in my life
and I wouldn’t trade her for the world

What a nice compliment you have written to a fellow poet. The world would be a better place if we had more people like you.
