The Wedding

This is the day, this is the moment

She has dreamed of all her life

The day she marries the man she loves

When they become husband and wife

They look ahead to a lifetime of joy

Many years of wedded bliss

Not a cloud in the sky nor tear in the eye

Can ever alter this

She takes her place there by his side

As they stand at the altar rail

Exchanging vows and bands of gold

Sneaking glimpses through her veil

The love they feel is felt by all

Who witness them with pride

As they turn to face their families

With a light now shining inside

After the ceremony is over

When the confetti has gone

A man and woman once alone

Are now united as one

Author notes

I saw this picture and wanted to write something which might do it justice...I think the bride looks so lovely and yes I know she is a model..but shes a woman too...maybe I captured a part of her dream?...

    A captured dream

Your chosen words narrate the dream of this day beautifully. The harmony of love and best wishes are vibrantly alive and suit the picture. I think you accomplished your creative ideal and it is well-deserving of the trophy.

this is so stunning... i wish i had had it read out at my wedding... unfortunately we got married may 15 this year and our wedding was a lot different... it was two days after my husband got out of jail, i had a punctured lung and broken ribs so was hunched over through the whole ceremony and had the wedding dress stolen two weeks before the wedding and it was just at the courthouse ... we are planning on doing it properly next time on our anniversary lol. if you wouldnt mind i would love to use this poem at our next wedding. congrats on becoming a grandfather
    hugs,
    georgie,
    xxx

Definitely captured her dream, better than anyone else could have done, I must say. Your rhyme scheme is brilliant, and excellent word choice. Creates wonderful imagery. Awesome work.

    romantic as hell

OH you big old softy, hahaha This was a beautiful poem, and I agree you are the last hopeless romantic I know. You have such a way with words, if only every man could be that romantic at heart we would have no need for war.
    Love you my friend
