Guess he has someplace else to be.
No time left in his day, for me.
Someone new to take his time,
Of course you know, it’s not a crime.
I have no rights to him, I know,
He’s always free to come and go.
Times we’ve laughed and times we’ve cried,
Up until the day he lied.
If trust is lost in a best friend,
You know it’s just the living end.
Suspicion that now clouds my eyes.
Makes every word he speaks just lies.
No laughter now, just many tears.
I’m left alone with inner fears
Will I learn to trust again?
Or will these fears send me insane?
Yes he’s got someplace else to be,
Has a new friend now ,doesn’t he!!!

After reading your poem I was interested to see in which category you had placed it in your author's comment box. I did have a general idea and yet when I finished reading the poem, I found myself stopping to reflect, as I had written one on the same choice. The irony between the two is amazing to me and it all rested on the definiton of the word "whatever". In America today the word whatever seems to have picked up a new connotation that has yet to be defined and when spoken nowadays almost sounds a bit "sarcastic" and is intended as such. I should think that your poem met the latter definition and therefore this old friends name really got moved to your "acquaintance" list! Thanks for sharing and there are good reasons for your poem as friends don't lie to friends! joy

It is always so hard to deal with distrust between friends and I have been there on many occasions.
I think the worst part is the way it makes you feel inside and the fact that you cannnot tell that person you are really hurting inside, but my friend friendships come and go and you do make friends that will be at your side for the rest of your life.
Well written and something I could relate to, indeed a pleasure to read xxx
