"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."
you who call me sick....
what system do you use?
you brand me unsound but
whom do you compare me to?
...both the sane and the mad
they have no balance or peace in their minds
pretty illusions are what the sane hold true...
relentlessly living unhappy and unfulfilled lives
lying even to themselves about
society's control and the illness of their world.
and such grand hallucinations
the disturbed do create in their head
false and unreal pictures of what is and should be
...making a world that makes sense in their minds
since the one they found themselves in drove them mad.
I have found the middle path,
a touch of sanity laced with madness
made me realize
I am my enlightenment...
peace in myself created a surrounding serenity
in this unbalanced and ill society
“Only if you reject all the other paths can you discover your own path.”

Thanks so much for your comment, and I also hope the same about there being more of us with these ideas out there in the world
I will have to visit your page to find this poem you speak of...what is its name?
thanks again and you take care

i also enjoyed this poem, and the conclusions you found are ones that ring true with me. well done and thanks for entering
there are a couple of little mistakes you missed
"to whom do you compare me to?" you could lose one of the "to's"
they have no balance or peace in there (their) minds
societies(society's) control and the illness of their world.
other than that, great job

I have a poem that reached the same conclusions myself, well done my friend. Only the insane claim they are sane, and by all rights, they are sane in this "sick society". This poem really rings true to me, I just hope there are more people like us out there to make living in this society worth while. Thank you for entering and the best of luck

You're very welcome. I just tried to put myself in your shoes with the words you gave and the feeling behind me. Maybe being under the sign of Cancer helps there too I'm not sure. You take care as well.

I love the wisdom and profound perspective of this poem. It describes us going on in our own little worlds all too well and the strain of following ones own path in the mix. Its when you stop thinking you're crazy when you truly are insane.
This is a delightfully deep read. I love its theme and the wisdom therein. Definitly a pisces write and worthy of applaus. I give do so proudly.

Excellent
I really like the idea behind this peace, as well as the quotes at each end. It certainly seems appropriate in todays world. I identified with it very strongly. -
True words, friend.
The middle ground between sanity and madness is not an easy place to find. Through many struggles I have found it, and am glad to know you believe that such a place exists.
This poem is very well written, and quite thought provoking as well. You have done an excellent job with this topic. It is not an easy one to capture in words. You've done it well.
