Evil? I’ll tell you what evil is.
Evil is what grips you
in the middle of the night
and makes your heart race,
and makes your hands sweat,
and your hair stand on end.
Evil is the thoughts and fears
of doors closing before you reach them,
of shadows behind the light
and voices from inside walls.
Evil is the desperation and the
paramount of the lies you’ve told.
Evil is the feeling of being followed
while stood perfectly quiet and still.
Evil’s eyes are everywhere and
will watch you like a hawk.
It preys on you, feeds on you,
shares the air you breathe.
Such is the evil I have to live with.
It makes me dead to the world
and lonely among my friends.
