Night Has Plummeted

Stillness wafts across the midnight green
as silence drifts like a phantom unseen.
Shadows crawl along the plain
and engulfs the light all the same.
Skeleton arms reach for the sky
while the bark of their skin exhales a sigh.
Crystal stars protrude from the belly of night
velvet and black, destitute of light.
Night has plummeted upon this resting field
to let the dead sleep and the living be healed.
