looking out to sea
i see the dancing waves and distant sunrise
and close my eyes to capture each moment
placing them into a pocket in my mind
You stand behind me
your head resting on my shoulder
I breathe you in
and capture your smile
placing it into another pocket
Walking along the shore
your hand in mine
resting my head on your chest to shield me from the wind
i feel your heartbeat and capture your warmth
placing it into another pocket
I sit alone at my window
when you are not there
but i still smile
because i take all the parts of you
out of the pockets in my mind
and reconstruct every moment we have shared
and every image of you
looking forward to the next..

Author notes
Even though you cannot always be physically near those you love...knowing you have them with you in your heart and mind provides a small comfort..
I love you Paul

Hello stranger

Fern, I see by the picture next to your comments below, that you are still as beautiful as ever!
Just like your writing.
You're very gifted. If I never told you that before, I will now. You, Fern, are full to the brim with compassion and it's evident in the way you write. So many people trying to convey feelings on this site do so all wrong, i.e, the tone's all wrong or the words seem forced, but you convey your feelings beautifully and effortlessly, creating a wonderfully relaxing and rather refreshing read!
I totally agree with the sentiment too. When you love a person, they become the feeling you have inside. The thought of them can do exactly the same as the person would do physically...
Maybe not exactly! But I know you know what I mean, my Mormonic, vegetarian bisexual friend! (That still has to be the best title in the world! So much so, I think you should be knighted: Dame Fern Brooks, M.V.B )
I really enjoyed your poem 'Captured Love', and I'll be dropping by again shortly.
Take care hun,
Dave. x

Hello Dave!
Thankyou so much for yuor comment on my work...sometimes having people like you...whom i barely know yet have a real friendship with is a blessing...a true blessing...to look back at my writes is hard...because at the time..i was with the person in which they were written...and now reflecting on the feelings i had for someone...feelings that were true, raw and honest...is hard...to not have them in my life...but life does go on..and i hope one day i obtain a new muse and pick up my quill again haha! I miss this site at times because i met some amazing people on here...you included...You are one of the most genuine people i have ever had the pleasure to know...it is amazing to get to know someone when you have not even met them...I am thankful for all the comments i have received on the site..but yours have always been honest and what you really think..and for this i commend you. Thankyou for being you Dave
Always,
Fern XxX

very real!
If you call feelings like this good, then they are if you don't like the poem giving felings like this, this is amazing how you brought a tear to my eye, This really is a sad tale, made i suppsoe from the window, how I have done this on previous times, excellent words but very sad feelings.

This is a very beautiful poem! I really like it. You did a wonderful job expressing the feeling of when you're not with that one person at any particular time. Great job I truely liked it.
-
Awwww....this is so sweet! I love the way you "take a photograph" of each of the great characteristics of love and put them in a safe place. The flow, rhyming, everything...it all falls into place so well!

Loved It
I love this poem. So much beautiful emotion!! Thanks for sharing. misssha ( You get my last applause of the day)!! So cool..... -
I am thankful for this piece because it lulls my soul. Loss is something that we all have in common. With memories, we are granted the blessing of keeping a part of the missed one near. Thank you for sharing such a deep but simplistic piece.

Wow, this was a really great poem. Very emotional and warm. Great job!

This reminds me of a song I have heard once or twice before called "Thoughts of You". The gentleness and sincerity have set it apart from many of the other love poems I read these days (even my own) which seem, for the most part, unrealistic. Sometimes being alone is a pain in the neck, but when you have happy memories, the weight of loneliness doesn't seem so heavy after all. That's all I have to hold on to right now, at least until love decides it wants to come knocking at my door again.
As always, I love your imagery, especially the dancing waves and distant sunrise. When one has happiness in their hearts, the sunrise seems so much nearer.
Hope all is well.
Many blessings,
Raven Aurora

This is very minimalistic. Just a piece of poetry that one could read and find solace in, in some respects. Thank you very much for sharing with us. Anthony aka Tony.

Thankyou so much gal for your lovely comment! Sometimes being apart from your better half can be hard

A beautiful write. A wonderful way to keep special memories that you can take out experience over and over again. Lovely imagery, flow and tone. Very nice descriptives and expression of emotion. Nice alliteration. Well crafted and a most enjoyable read. Shelley

Terrific
"that was a good moment" is one of my favorite phrases, used to describe a specific snapshot as you have described here, one that you can pull up into memory and smile at forever more ... good write - DJ -
I love the idea of that, capturing the sweet moments and gestures of love and putting them in your pocket. You save them for later when you are alone ..it is a comfort
I hope your pockets are bulging
Bravo on this daff - very touching!

Thanks for your comment James
The final Stanza is actually my favourite
to me it sums all the feelings expressed in the previous ones..This was a personal write so i guess it has that sentiment for me. Thanks again

Very Good
It's a nice piece, the last verse was not my favourite, I just really liked some of the things you did at the start.
A really good piece though

I like the images you created in this poem'placing images and events inside a pocket'it's funny and cool.
-
Excellent
Very well written. The poem is very visual. You can picture the events. The title that you chose was a very good choice. Its got a double meaning. Anyway, its really good. Keep it up!

*speechless*
ohhh dearie! this is my new favorite poem! I cant even put it in words its so wonderful...
I think a main reason why its so beautiful, is that everyone can relate to it. wether its a boyfriend, friend, husband, father, or a brother, (in a woman's case of course) we have all experienced a love like that, that we never want to get rid of. and as you said, you can just keep a part of then in your mind and heart for a day without them. thanks ALOT! You have such a talent, and keep it up.

You are truly gifted. I felt and saw what was going on in this one, like I was there and in your shoes for a moment. It's such a beautiful write, keep up the great work.
