Where do we live?

When is a house a home?
When someone lives there
all alone?
Or does it wait
until a time
when a family puts up a sign?
If a house is just a building
Then is the home called by name?
Is the Bellany House all that scary?
Or is it haunted by its fame?

Every town has a house
Or two or three
that is named, but without family.
It sits alone gathering dust
And children do what children must.
They throw the rocks and the eggs,
But they're afraid to get close
Lest they begin to fade.
Some houses threaten by their menace
While others scare by their welcoming arms.
Each one seems to trap and keep us
Locked inside its horrifying charm.

Is it any wonder
In a world like this
That when one sets down roots
Their legs cease to exist.
The electric adventure
The adrenaline rush
Has come to an end
With a single touch.
The touch is a danger
As much as the smile.
They tie you up,
At least for a while,
And when it all
Is said an done,
There's an empty house
And no more fun.
No longer a home
To cherish and protect.
The house fell apart
due to neglect.

I like that poem, its got a great flow to it. The rhyming is great aswell. Its an interesting question the poem asks and i like how you touch on 'haunted' houses and how childeren react to them. I also like how you asked questions only in the first stanza made me really think. Great poem keep it up! xXJacquiXx
