Didn't I comment on this?
It is my favorite book of all time. I read something from it nearly everyday. I carry it with me. Along with my Stuart Gilbert Study Guide.
Fucking heretic.
-
Sure it's cute and funny, but all in all a waste of time. You seem to have good friends that will leave nice comments to keep your spirits high, though. How exciting.

Who bit your balls? Did I say something that upset you in a forum? Yes, all of the people who comment here are my friends.
"It's cute and funny, but all in all it's a waste of time". Having an existentialist crisis there? Isn't it being cute and funny enough? What more do you want from a haiku in the 'humour category'?

Hmmm potted meat - not the least bit good for you, needs a lot of ketchup..fits well in your Haiku though

Hehe, indeed. Have never read Ulysses and never intend to --- it's just too daunting a prospect for the likes of me! This is a terrific little haiku. Very funny. Well done.
-
BRAVO!
-
Doesn't matter were not speaking, don't blame you probly think im a right psyco.
But anyway over summer actually read Ulysses wish i hadnt botherd now in three lines thats pretty much it. Did quite enjoy Portrait of an artist....
I find the greek, actual character of Ulysses a hell of a lot more intresting, see doing classics now. x

Cute! Confusing? Enlightening! Thanks for the thoughts and words.

it's good of you to include notes, I was confusing it with Homer's Odysseus and couldn't for the life of me remember anything about potted meat, not to mention Dublin, ROFL!
good luck!

Hey! I like potted meat. When I'm really hungry, that is. And broke.
I've never read the book, sadly enough. I tried, but it was as your haiku suggested.
Nice. I like this. -
hey, you've done a great job here, perfect syllable count and very well written, good luck!

I think you get the point across well here. People will get the jist, and it's a good haiku. I like potted meat. Not to eat, but too read, a good metaphor there. Also I don't think you need to be smarter. A lot of the classics are real mundane, and written more for their own era, yet we feel the need to read them, as though it were an endurance test, just to say we have read and learnt. But truly if you don't like a book after half an hour, out it down. That book is not for you. You may never learn of what you least enjoy. Anyway, wll done to you, I like your stuff.

too true
been said above .... in your author notes...guess there are a lot more out there who feel the same.....
-
Haha! This is cleverly put. I have never read Ulysses, but my brother has and I've heard quite a bit about the book. I should put it on my list and attempt to read it. lol.
I like the way you portrayed your feelings about the book. Vivid imagery in a few a words and it creates a whole world of thought. Best wishes in the contest.

Good luck in the contest!!

Aww, tiny little nuggets of comedy. Very nice. Unfortunately I've never read Ulysses, but I still found this funny.
Comedy haiku, interesting idea. -
Ah. One of my favorite books, I had to click. A wise person told me "Just let the words wash over you, the meaning will come later." I did that and have now read it 3 times. Each time the mist clears a bit more.
Good luck in the contest.
