Wings in flight

The leaves cascading, reds and browns and rust,

they swirl on breezes from the autumn's wind.
A time of year when frost settles the dust,

to let us know that summers at an end.

The blue morph geese are putting on their down,
small goslings rich with feathers will not swoon.
To fly o’er valleys, mountains, fields and towns,
on windless waves echoing from the moon.

From silver ponds to currents in the sky,
a journey nature deems to be the best.
We all can learn a lesson as they fly,
that all creation will be put to test.

As mother nature readied for this plight,
I listened and I heard their wings in flight.

    Hood-Wink!

This is so beautiful to read and well deserved of the silver trophy, but I cannot believe that another poem beat this one to the gold...

You have painted a gorgeous autumn scene in my mind, your words sing out so eloquently, in poetic lines...I think you are the best sonnet writer that I have read, while I have been a member of AP...this was such a pleasure for me to click onto and you have coupled it with a most entrancing picture, thank you for sharing this with me today

You have been hood-winked by me

Such a beautiful sonnet. I have always struggled with the sonnet but you seem to be good at nearly every form that I have seen... You're a talented poet. Thank you for sharing and well done to the silver... It was well deserved.

A beautiful sonnet about the change of a season. Beautiful picture of the geese flying, I experienced that just three days ago, it was a most beautiful sight.
