Death of Sunshine

The sun beats down
Spreading toxic
                Ultraviolet
                       Lightrays
Down to earth like some cheap
       Sci-fi novel

The sun is bored; he plays idly
He shines his light hard, hoping
       Infect us all with
               Deadly cancers

He is bored and defeated
He is frustrated;
So few die from the burn

Wrath overcomes his flaming figure
And all he can hear is
Our voices saying
'What a lovely summer it is!'

He is alone in cold, dark Space
No one knows his worth or pride
Wishing for
         Us all to notice him
         He shines too bright
He is vengeful and revengeful

Author notes
