The Scent of a Man

Missing image

What is it about the scent of a man that sends my senses reeling,
I'm not talking about everyday scents, it's the ones that stir the feelngs.

The scent my father always had, that meant that I was safe,
I'd bury my head on his shoulder, I'd catch it, as he kissed my face.

The scent of my first boyfriend, all aftershave and hormones,
I'd know he made the effort by the kiss when we got home.

The scent of my first true love, the one I thought I'd die for,
Clean, crisp and sexy, that soon faded, I needed more.

The scent of the man who loves me, it's with me wherever I go,
Hardly notice it most of the time, the smell I love most,I know

Strongest when we're making love, he holds me, it covers my skin,
Grows as our loving gets stronger overpowers me, before he comes in

To my body, and just for a while, I smell that incredible scent,
It fills all my senses and takes me to the place where we were meant

To be together, in time and space, our aromas mingle as one,
To some that's the smell of sex, but to me, it's the greatest one.

Author notes

Smell is just one of the senses, but a very powerful one.

It's funny how scent brings back some of our strongest memories. The way you used the different scents that brought you back to those people and those moments, it was just so beautiful. You have a very special way of wording things that makes them impact with such a soothing feel. Never quit writting you are intense and incredible....love this read...scars.

    The Scent of a Man

I also live with my senses and I love the smell of my lady when she is warming up--getting wet--nipples erect--her taste is intoxicating.
But her eyes fo hot and ready really grab me--she is very special.
    Good write and read--flows well.

Worthy a trophy, the scent of man
smelt by a woman, a aroma that can
heighten the passion, desire to play
the ultimate goal, natures "high" way
mixing our emotions, releasing the seeds
deepest of feelings, our primal needs

    Not a side I know

I enjoyed following your thoughts in this and again wish I was the one who brought those feelings out in you. Smell is our most evocative human reward.
    Love it nice.

    Very nicely done!

I really enjoyed this piece, especially the first stanza, then talking about your dad! the first stanza, the interplay between sense and scents (most men aren't considered to have much of the former and our latter offerings are very unappreciated in most writings!) The form of the poem lost a little for me when you would end a stanza in mid-thought, concluding it in the first line of the next though--sorry. In this line too, "And overpowers me, before he come in" you left off the s in comes. Minor repair but would add to the piece! Overall a very good write though! Lucky man in your life for sure! Much love, John

    Great!

Oh man, I can COMPLETELY relate to this. The way I always know I am attracted to a man is when I am just blown away by his scent. Pheremones are powerful things.

    STUNNING WRITING!!!!!!!!!

STUNNING WRITING HERE. THIS IS SO TRUE. SMELLS REALLY DO TAKE US BACK TO PLACES IN TIME. THEY HELP US REMEMBER, VIVIDLY. THE PERFUME OF A WOMAN, OR THE SCENT OF A MAN, CAN INSTANTLY TRANSPORT US TO THEM - IN THE MIND'S EYE. [ SEED'S OF A STORY, THERE, I THINK ] WONDERFUL WRITING, SUE.

I liked this poem, I liked the use of rhyme here. This was a very good personal poem which was romantic in places, showing familial love in others. Keep writing, I liked the depiction of the sense of smell here.
    All the best
