Reaching For Heaven

Reaching For Heaven
Jacob's Ladder

Come sleep my son at daylight's end,
rest your head now upon this stone.
Let your mind wander free and dream,
journey far into the unknown.

Such visions race within your mind,
see the stairway rise in the sky.
Reaching, winding through the clouds,
higher then where the birds can fly.

Angels of God, upon the stairs,
many of them were ascending.
Ladder ending at Heaven's door,
many were also descending.

God then reveals that soon one day,
his heirs will own the promised land.
Given to many of his offspring,
this is God's will and His command.

We can see Jesus Christ as the ladder,
to help us connect with God on Earth,
To help find relationships lost,
through our sin, and to find our worth.

We will be justified by faith,
given peace through our sweet Jesus.
He Redeems us to live in Heaven,
with eternity He shall please us.

    WONDERFUL POEM

Michael, I was looking up Jacobs ladder to see about the anchor. I think #1 may be why they put the anchor on the ladder in this picture. It is a natical term for a ladder. That is the only thing that makes sense to me. Take care my friend. Sandy

    Jacob's ladder .
1.Nautical. A rope or chain ladder with rigid rungs.
2.Any of various plants of the genus Polemonium, especially P. caeruleum, having blue flowers and alternate, pinnately compound leaves with numerous leaflets.
3.From the ladder seen by the biblical patriarch Jacob in a dream (Genesis 28:12).]

    WONDERFUL COMMENT THANK YOU!!!!!

Thank you for the wonderful comment my friend. Yes there a connection between God and we His creations. I believe Jesus Christ is that is that bridge or stairway Jacob saw in His dream. The only way to Heaven is through Him and Him alone. You are so right. Jesus bridges that gap of eternal and temporal so we may have life eternal. Wonderful comment my dear friend. Always so nice to read your comments. You take care and have a wonderful weekend!!! Hugs and smiles across the miles,, Sandy

    Heavely

Reminds me of "Heaven on my mind". At least that's the thought that came across...that we need to be reminded from time to time to put our thoughts on the heavenly with the realization that there is a connection between the eternal and temporal, between the creator and the creation. This is a good reminder that while we are separated from Glory, that the creator has provided a bridge that can span the gulf separating us from the creator...something we can not do left to our own. Thanks for sharing this refreshing poem. Michael.

your amazing. I love this passage just for this reason. Jesus is my ladder to heaven and only by him will I ascend because without him I'm unworthy.

    god bless. kris lynn.

This created such a deep and personal emotion/image with my mind. I got that feeling you sometimes get when something (for a moment) stops your heart it's so beautiful...that slight twinge deep in your chest and that moment of nothingless bliss inside your head (but only for a moment). Very hard to explain but to put it in simpler terms, if something made me do that, then it was absolutely fantastic, wonderful, superb, etc etc....

    Very Nice

That was an great peom. I really liked the imagery you used. It's nice to see someone writing about Christ in a world that seems to have abandoned Him.
