Doodling

Pen in hand
I doodle mindlessly
circles
and lines crossing each other
in many angles
and at many points.

Not doodling happy faces
or hearts
with the shiny spot
in the corner
as I darken the rest.

Not even doodling flowers
with petals
whether many or few
with or without a leaf
or a stem
like I used to.

The black pen
running out
turning a lighter black
almost grey
before leaving nothing
but indents
where I just want to doodle
but the pen is dead
and I have no others.

Author notes

this is NOT some sort of suicide metaphor, so don't over analyze thinking someone died, or that this is really self mutilation or something, cuz it's just like it sounds, doodling mindlessly, not happy doodling, and my pen dies (and in reality, this never happened anyway, but if i were doodling right now, it would be just lines, boring lines and circles cuz i am completely drained and just want to get out of here)

it IS supposed to express that i feel really crappy, and kinda alone, and really blah out of my mind, but don't over analyze it

I finally found it... LOL... I have been hunting forn this poem for days.

I feel a sense of... frustration in the poem.... and it is something thatso many people will relate to... I am so proud that they published this for you. First of many published pieces, I am sure.

Lol... doodle away, Kayla... anyone who keeps doodling is surely safe from suicide anyway.....and I say that because of your comment, not because I'm trying to analyze your poem. To me it seems just as you've said... mindless doodling.

If I could figure out a way to doodle with the pc I'd probably do it.... instead I just play mindless spider solitaire

This is actually a pretty cool write.... I like it.

I do doodles & write my thoughts!
    Interesting write!
    I did enjoy this!
This found a smile within me!
Reminds me of my old highschool days when I would doodle all day!
Keep taking to places that make me smil!
Keep taking me to places that I've never been to before!
    Keep penning on my friend!
And thank you for being my friend!
    Bill

This is probably one of the best poems I've seen of yours yet. And while I know you don't want others to think you're suicidal or anything, I think such people could relate to this poem very easily. It's an amazing poem that can work on many levels (and you should definatly allow it to). I enjoyed this piece alot. --STP

LOL. I doodle the same way.
and while I'm not thinking of the ddodle
    I'm usually thinking about someone.

    nice non-metaphorical little poem.
    cute!

I've actually done exactly the same as this.
doodling just for the sake of it.....not creatively, just mindless doodling to break the boredom of empty silence within me.

(far more difficult to do these days when i only use the pc.....lol)

I doodle like that sometimes... sometimes in class when I JUST CAN"T listen to another word of lecture... that NEVER happens in someone's class though... LOL. I like it, and it may not mean anything metaphoric to you, but I think that it can mean lots of things to lots of people.
