Have you smelled the sweet aroma
as it whispered on the wind
breathed the heady of scent passion
felt the fragrance draw you in
Have you seen fallen petals
crushed upon the forest floor
as a soft mist rained upon them
did you feel your senses soar
Have you explored the trees above you
searching for the blossoms there
did their fragile beauty haunt you
like perfumed phantoms in air
Have you dared to touch the flushing
splendor spread there in the shade
wrapped your fingers in exotic
carnal pleasures that cascade
Have you ever known true love
the kind that you could glory in
One that leaves you drained and aching
sultry beads upon your skin
Have you ever let it bleed you
tear you down then make you whole
Ached for one more chance to know it
…then you’ve touched the orchid’s soul.

Author notes
Joe and I were married in a garden at the American Orchid Society in South Florida, so I always associate orchids with our love.
Orchids are my favorite FLOWERs and this is my humble attempt to honor them.

well done and said.
I like it! You show a lovely command of this language of ours, and the mechanics of rhyme, the meatier works well also.. I say we need all of our faces of emotion to move hearts to sigh, I find this but one of yours. This is a very well written piece of work. The content is very emotionally charged, with excellent imagery. Again, you have a talent with words…. Brava! Be well…
