Halloween Fun On The Run
Haunted houses and scary stories,
jack-o-lanterns flicker in the night.
See goblins and witches on broomsticks,
Halloween is a night full of fright.
Little boys are dressed up like Casper,
some are dressed like Winnie the Pooh.
Some little girls are princess fairies,
Cinderella and cute witches too.
Teenagers like to become monsters,
playing pranks and just having some fun.
Soaping windows, ringing doorbells,
the sun now sets the fun has begun.
Bright orange and black decorations,
decorate the windows and front doors.
Trick or treaters beg for sweet candy,
run to the next house and beg for more.
Halloween parades and costume parties,
the costumes are judged to win a prize.
Drinking cider, bobbing for apples,
Children smile, such wonder filled eyes.
Holiday enjoyed through a lifetime,
create tradition and memories.
I remember my grandma and grandpa,
pretending, not to recognize me.

I love it. Nice job on the structure, it didn't seem too forced. And the idea of it was great as well. Thank you for entering!

WONDERFUL COMMENT
Thank you so much Bill. You always leave such wonderful comment.
This was a fun one to write. All the good memories. I use to love the Halloween parties. I still enjoy giving out the candy to the kids. We have a big Halloween parade every year. It is our biggest parade in town. So many floats and the kids marching. And all the floats have someone on them throwing candy to the kids along the parade route. Thank you again for the sweet comment. Take care. Many smiles, Sandy

WONDERFUL COMMENT
Ah Thank you Charlie. I bet you miss trick or treating. You are a big kid at heart. That is what makes you so nice. You stay safe over there. Always brings a smile

Excellent
This seems like a fun piece that you really enjoyed I'm looking forward to reading more on the subject -
VERY VERY GOOD
Great! If this doesn't bring back a lot of memories I feel that they missed so much. How well I remember those days. Exactly as you said. Then I can so well remember when it became time to no longer participate as a youngster. It was hard to relaize that I was too old to still go door to door. But I also remember after I was married and going out to buy all that candy for the youngsters who came around. I would put a big show on for them and make each perform a little act or explain why they choose the costume they were wearing. How great it is to reminiss reading a great poem like this that brings back so many memories. Sandy, you do it everytime.

hi dear auntie
Halloween is on the way?
It wasn't some months ago? We don't have it here, but I remember it well that I sent some of my friends some scary e-cards.
Wish you luck in the contest.

I liked this piece a lot, great use of rhyme here. This was a very great society piece which I enjoyed reading. Great use of the colours ‘orange’ and ‘black’- they really do sum up Halloween don’t they? This was a great poem about Halloween. This poem was very hopeful. The last line was interesting, because it reminded me a little of the (British) national poetry theme this year: identity. Does anyone know who we really are? Good luck in the contest
I liked the flow here.
All the best
