Alabaster Flesh

alabaster flesh
stretched thin over my bones
delicate, thin and pure

my fingernails blue tinged beauty
luminous white hair curling on my pillow

long fingertips roam
like butterflies
over my body

light shines through my pores
I am so thin: beautiful

my stomach concave
my skull almost visible
eyes so clear

all I have
I give to her

Ana

release me

Author notes

I never struggled with anorexia myself, but I was so thin in middle school that I was ostracized as "that girl with anorexia." It almost made me want to become an Ana, because it was what everyone thought of me anyway.

    Great Poem

Your poem was full of great imagery as you wrote of this terrible disease.Society so emphazies that thin is beautiful. It is heartbreaking to see what it does to some young girls. Thanks for sharing this with us. Take care, Sandy

This is such a sad subject, but your delicate wording and style is so beautiful and thought provoking. I can tell that you put a lot of thought into this write, the end results being a wonderful and heart wrenching piece of work. very discriptive and full of emotion. Well done.

This is very unique and different. Very sad but the imagery was done really well. Sorry to see that people thought that you were struggling with ana when you weren't. Even though it's short, still holds emotion and depth. Thanks for entering and good luck.

Yeah, that's why I always thought people were dumb for saying I was anorexic....I could eat with the best of them. ^-^

Wow.. I know you had some health issues when you were younger, but eating or lack of, was never one, that's for sure. I hope, all those that teased you, realise how dumb they were for it. Awesome write my dear. Good luck in the contest. Athena
