In honor she sings of the Light,
in which Spirit shows us right.
Her lightness shows us white,
so Crystal bright.
Buffalo woman is a woman of day,
shooting arrows of beauty our way.
We call her here in soft white glow,
to help us understand and know.
Through my heart she comes,
filling my life with the unity of one.
She shines from my heart,
sacred tipi, sacred hat, Buffalo heart.
She is returning to me,
all the beauty to see.
Buffalo Woman is calling, will you answer?
Buffalo Woman is calling, will you dance with her?
She's calling light, she's calling peace.
She's calling Spirit, she's calling me.
She's calling you, will you answer her?
Yes, I will answer her call, join me there.
Author notes
This is poem was writen from a Caddoan legend of how the White Calf Buffalo Woman was a spiritual woman that brought the message of how to be one with Wanka Tanka (Great Spirit). She supposedly traveled from tribe to tribe and was a sacred pipe carrier. My Indian Zodiac Sign is Bear - Libra.

Thank you for your comment on Aversion. I live in Caddo parish. Here is something I think you will enjoy

I had the idea and researched it a bit and found the picture linked. I encountered the indian spirit guides and discovered (note my avatar) that I was an owl. -
wow, I got goosebumps while reading your poem ... it happens sometimes, when I encounter a message that is very important for me to listen to ... and I will listen ...
the buffalo looks similar to my zodiac-sign taurus, so somehow, there is a synchronicity right here already ... buffalo tells me of strength and endurance, stability, too ...
and further on, I am happy to receive the invitation of realizing the unity with the great spirit, encompassing all that is, without reserve ...
thank you so much for offering this precious gift to me through your insightful and inspiring tale,
maa *hug

How beautiful a story. You should be so proud of your ability to write about such legends so they can tell the story for future generations. Also to enlighten folk like me who have a deep interest and respect for your people, both in your history and the present fight to rectify old wrongs. Niaish my friend for allowing me the privilege of reading your work.

Stand up and give praise
I thought I had commented on this poem before, but don't see anything from me, I found the poem bringing me into the story of our tribes, hearing the music and thunder as one. I loved the way you presented this fine piece. Walk in peace with the father at your side and wind behind you. thank you for sharing a wonderful story for all to see. MOON (cari) -

A beautiful spiritual writing!
This is truly a beautiful piece of writing, having a strong spiritual feel threaded all the way through it. Can I ask please, is Buffalo Woman a legend, or was she someone who actually lived? I do hope you do not mind my asking you these questions.

Very beautiful, Mom. I could feel the presence of the Buffalo Woman in my heart as I read your lovely poem. She came across as a very pure spirit, full of goodness, peace and light and ofcourse, love. I adore the background and border you have for the poem. The rhyme and flow is excellent. The only small question I have is - What is the sacred tipi?
Thank you for sharing this lovely poem and song.
Warm hugs,
