Nature's Robes

Fall is coming on the wings of a summer's breeze.
Those bright flowered colors begin to fade and dim.
This is the time that trees take to shine.
The maple with it's bright yellows and reds,
compete with the high mountain aspen all
dressed in golds.  The oak, sedate as always,
clothes itself in drab brown as if to offer the
eyes a respite from bright colors.

The mountains of the Appalachia and Ozarks become a
riot of colors.  The reds, golds and browns mute those
who robe themselves all year round in green.
The mountains of the Rocky's are robed mostly in gold,
looking as precious as the metal itself in the fall
light.

Autumn is the time when Nature robes herself in bright
colors for all to see and remember before the unrelenting
white of winter sets in.

Wow. The imagery was just awesome I sat there and read this and I felt like I was actually there. Whe you sit there and read something and feel that way because of their imagery and emotion then you know that they are a good writer and that the poem is just really awesome. Good luck on my contest. This poem was beautiful.

    Merry meet Miss Yorik,
Thank you for your wonderful compliments. Fall always makes me think of my childhood in Kansas when we would go to the Ozarks. The oaks were always my favorite tree.

Beautiful! We tend to think of autumn in bright colours, rather than sedate browns, so this added a nice touch. Interesting idea of robes... I think of winter as trees are robed in gowns of silver and diamond, but autumn, too, falls into the category, for the trees are robed in reds, golds, and browns.

Thank you for entering. I enjoyed reading this.
