American In Iraq

I sat down and cried
Just the other day
For Soldiers and Marines that had died
And made that sacrifice

I sat down and cried
Just the other night
When I heard the ring of freedom
Ring in Iraqi streets

I sat down and bawled
Not to long ago
When I held my child in my arms
It had been way to long

Yes I’ve cried
And yes I’ve bawled
I still have these emotions
Emotions of an American in Iraq

"Not to long ago". The "to" needs another "o". This poem is very emotional and contemporary. You have used effective repitition in this poem. Great job!

    BEAUTIFUL AN D HEARTFELT POEM

This was wonderful Charlie. My heart and prayers go out to you and all Americans and our allies who put themselves in harms way for freedom all over the world. Thank you for all you do over there. God Bless you and stay safe my friend. It is an honor to know you and call you my friend. Sandy

A special person who cares so much
Makes us smile with words that touch
Every word is written from the heart
Reading sad poem, his tears will start
Incredible friend you know he cares
    Combat enviroment because he dares
Air Force retired but still gives his all
Never could resist that freedom call

In life he stands tall and reflective
    Never complains meets his objective

Is charming, friendly and really sweet
    Romantic heart, war's drum beat
Amazing is he, with a heart of gold
Quells the turmoil that wars unfold

This is very touching, and it is so hard for some of us to come to terms with. No one I am close to has been in the military or on any type of mission since I was born. My dad is a korean war vet, that's about it. I really don't know how families deal with this. It is so important for others to understand.

    excellent

It is still very touching, I read this just last night when I again I have found myself drawn to you book. Just questioning some things right now and looking to your book to find some answers for my best friend who's husband is coming home sometime within the next six weeks and they are having some issues about the reunion.
