Gap-toothed Welcome-Silver

Missing image
*Gap-toothed Welcome

Stones round and sunken into earth,
You have not forgotten, nor have I.
Gap in the East, I enter, and touch
sacred path with my step; a child’s step,
for I am young in this new knowledge;
and old step, as I am an old spirit.
Earth has drug me through
many stages of my living here.

You and I, toe-heel prairie sod
where none but us can hear
throbbing of that distant drum
that calls us to circle round
to stir the Universe with our movement.
I am sacred.  You make me so.
As we move from East, to South, to West
and to the North I pause.

Here, where I stand, in this moment,
I am with my Grandmothers, my Elders,
my Ancestors of anguished times,
my Warriors who protect me now,
my Children, born and yet to be born.
I am Earth Daughter, at the cusp of Elderhood,
in an ancient curve of rocks
placed by loving hands who knew
spiral spirituality I would seek solace from
in my tumultuous today.

For those who think us dying or gone,
walk into the mountains, deserts, plains,
be lead by Coyote, let Raven guide you,
follow Rabbit’s  well-trod places
to the places where all things become
one time, one space and one heartbeat.
Enter the gapped-tooth opening
and receive the smile of our ancestors
in welcome, friend, in welcome.

    my dearest carrol,
thank you from my deepest heart for such a precious teaching about the medicine wheel. your message is shared with words of humility, beauty and profound wisdom. I received it right inside my heart, it touched something there and I can feel the impact at the very moment. something is happening right now in the depth of my soul ...
I wear a newly received wolf-goddess-carving at the moment over my heart, and I feel that the energy contained in your message has entered this amulet and brought it to life ...
I feel it vibrate now and sending light to my heart as well as radiating light outwards. maybe I just imagine this, but for me it is real ...
my soul resonates with the medicine wheel, with the native american wisdom and with your soul, cherished mother in spirit, who brings to me so much light and love.
your are most dear to my little heart and I love you more than I can tell ...

    marion

O my! That's very beautiful that the gap in between the two front teeth, even though small, has passed on from one generation to the next. Amazing!! A real treasure

Thank you, Mountain Daughter. These poems that are my reality, my native soul, are my favorite to write. The Gap-Tooth carries another real significance: it runs in the family to ahve a little space between the two front teeth...not a wide one, but a small sapce...it starts in the picture of my great-grandmother right down to my granddaughter.

WOW!!!!!!! A big smile to you This is simply beautiful. I felt very welcome, very peaceful and happy on reading this. It made me smile and I felt so good in spirit. The imagery of your poem is so fascinating and wonderful. I do like the title as well. I think it was the title that made me smile at first. Wonderful use of assonance and alliteration in the poem. The love of a family is so beautifully brought out in this poem. I felt like I was meeting my ancestors who have passed on. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful poem and experience. You have my applause.

    All the best,
    Char

Yes, I have been to some of the sacred circles....and felt a lightweight feeling upon entering the circles. some have been blocked off, like this one, but there are still many we can go and enter and make commune with our ancestors within.

It is good for others to know we still are alive and well in Indian country.
