Scattered reflections

Scattered reflections and pictures from the past,
sun rays dance after the old broken picket fence.
Grandma, wrinkled cheeks, and me, oh! Contrast;
evening walk, with a wet soil smell blessed sense.

It was autumn, time to pick up some healing herb,
smells like a good candy between fingers and palm.
To knew where to find it, it was something superb,
but to be with my dear grandma it was like a balm.

Time has gone like shadows but memories remains,
with eyes closed I can see and feel her so close.
Love and evening herb smell are still in my veins,
I cannot express them with verses and with prose.

It was dusk, I was listening and the Earth was talking
sharing with us so rare nature's gifts and our walking.

    Someone who has written about their grandmother. I was waiting to find a poem like this. So special and so sacred are those special memories of grandmother. Reading this poem made me think back upon the last years I spent with my grandmother. Though with me it was watching needles, and hearing needleclicks, and with you it was picking and smelling of herbs that you remember most, both of us have similar special memories. Thank you ever so much for sharing this special piece of writing with me. Many blessings, and thanks for entering my contest.

    Thank you grannyeri. Kids are not asking too much. Love is all they need and some siple things like "old" stoires, talking, slow walking, could built memories for ever. Nothing could be compared with this memories.

    Loved the sentiments you have expressed in these lines - so easy to read and understand as well. As a grandma myself, hoppe my grandkids remember me with such fondness and love one day when I am gone.

    Wonderfully reminiscent of Grandma, home and kitchen smells. Herbal, earthy and everything good. Childhood lessons learned from the fount of knowledge that hugged us and made us feel special and loved. This is a beautiful poem with lots of memories.
